Les Habitants Prospects Thread

Wow that article completely goes against the narrative of McCarron is riding the coattails of his linemates....

lineup. Without McCarron, the Knights are just 3-6. With McCarron, the Knights are a staggering 12-2.

McCarron has yet to rack up the powerplay points like his teammates (45% and 43% of Domi and Marner’s points have come from the powerplay, respectively; while 29% of McCarron’s points come on the powerplay), but he has been a tremendous contributor in that area.

Code:
Player Points-Per-Game Before McCarron Points-Per-Game Since McCarron's Return
Max Domi 1.00 2.73
Mitchell Marner 0.71 2.44
Christian Dvorak 0.71 1.94
Matt Rupert 0.60 1.38

Looking at those numbers above, it sure doesn't seem that McCarron is solely a product of Domi. Hmmm.

There are a variety of factors for this tremendous turnaround, including McCarron’s chemistry with Max Domi and Aaron Berisha. There is no denying that playing with one of CHL’s most purely skilled players has had a profound impact on McCarron. McCarron and Domi complement each other extremely well, as both players bring skill and intensity to every shift. McCarron has helped Domi improve just as much as a player as Domi has helped McCarron. Considering the fact that McCarron can not only keep up, but also often outplay Domi is encouraging. It shows that he has taken a massive leap forward leap in his development.

It's a good read. He is being leaned on defensively which is encouraging considering Hunter wouldn't do that if he didn't believe he was capable.

The McCarron hype has maybe gone a bit too far, but its understandable considering where he came from last year. Like the above article said, he still has to improve on his first strides, not exactly an explosive skater yet. This will be key for him to make it in the NHL.

I feel like anytime you have a highly skilled/ranked player in on 80%+ of another player's total points you're going to get those questions though. Connor Brown had less than 40% of his 128 points assisted by McDavid and he still got those questions...

Prove? Why is he playing (and doing well) vs men yet?
He is doing well in junior this year and that is all well and good, but...
