Les Habitants Prospects Thread

Jesus, anybody else then you guys awake here?

Habs farm teams on a ROLL it's all GREAT.

ECHL Cyclones (where Cedrick D is considered a/or the top goalie
in the league!!

""'They did it!

The Cyclones defeated the second place Elmira Jackals 5-4 in the Shoot Out tonight to make ECHL history. They won their 15th straight game, breaking the record for the most in the league's history. I have been a fan of the team since the mid-nineties when they were in a completely different league (the original IHL), but it was really an amazing sight to see the players jump off the bench with excitement when the final buzzer sounded.

David Desharnais also broke the ECHL record for recording his 18th straight assist in a game.

A great announced crowd of 5187 was there to witness it. I personally thought it was more towards 5500-5800, but still a good showing.

Maybe Cedric shines next time he's up with the Dogs as well, but 15 straight wins is pretty damned impressive at any level of hockey.

They interviewed Yannick Weber during the second intermission of his team's game against the Sarnia Sting (on Sportsnet). He seems like another great kid in our organization!

In case anyone in this thread's interested..Ryan White update posted in Ben Maxwell thread.

Any word on Ryan White?

Ya mon.

Looks like we might have another "potential" good faceoff /defensive specialist in the prospect pipeline after all..

Chipchura and White, hmmm...well see
(yeah, Chips needs to improve faceoffs, etc..)

This vote by his pears means a lot,
and even more interesting is this guy's not strictly a defensive player, the prior season, he was in the running for top point getter in the league for a while, finished 3rd I believe.

Hmmm.....

Some Facts and notes from fans, compiled from various sources and boards.

This is from a Best of WHL's Eastern Conference Poll. Each Gm/Coach/players get one vote and you can't vote for anyone from your own team

Notes from Fans:

- After watching White most of this season in Calgary, he has a loooooong way to go before he's in the same category as Chipchura. He wears an A with the Hitmen, but doesn't seem to be much of a true leader with the team.

Bottom line: two very different players with two very different potential career paths. With Chipchura, a defensive specialist was expected; with White, a dynamic offensive player is expected. The fact he's learned to play within a defensive system and kill penalties is a bonus. He will probably need more time in the AHL than Chipper did.

- bang on.
White had been great since getting cut from the WJC's team, and he certainly has intriguing upside.
But imo Chipchura is all but a guranteed solid NHL player within the next year or so, with the strong potential to be a premier 3rd line shut-down centre.

- White will have to show that he can carry this motivation into his first few years as a pro (in the past he's been knocked for his non-chalant work ethic/conditioning issues). While he has perhaps more offensive upside (don't forget that chips was PPG player his final two years in the WHL as well, despite coming back from a bad achilles tendon injury, and played on a much worse team than the current hitmen), it still remains to be seen how much of that carries over to the professional game. Whereas with Chips, we saw pretty clearly last year and this year that his best attributes are translating quite well.

- They don't really compare all that much as White has been a standout player in the dub, much better offensively then Lapierre. I have high hopes for White if he can improve his skating, foot speed and mobility. I've heard concerns about his conditioning, but I don't know if there's a problem there or not as I'll see a lot more of him in Hamilton next year so I'll get a better feel for him.

- Have been a fan of his since watching him at the U-16's with Maxwell. White does it all, has offensive skills (nice wrist shot), strong along the boards, hits, blocks shots, drops the gloves. But we'll see how his lack of foot speed effects him at the next level. This could be a big year for the Hitmen, would love to see them go to the Memorial Cup.

- He's an offensive player first imo by a good amount. I know in talking with some Hitmen fans they say he has been working on his all round game to be a more complete player and it's working well for him this year. Personally I have to wonder if he won't end up on the wing due to his lack of speed but we'll see what happens to him in Hamilton.

MAX PAC Compilation

Gets better and better as it goes on, great snap wrist shot at about 2:50, and funny lockeroom dance at the end.

I have a feeling this guy's gonna be good.

Rivet and his ufa $ traded for Josh Gorges and Max Pac...good move Bob.

just wanted to let every one know I was at the Belleville Bulls game last night and man does PK Subban look like the realy thing. Pk has 1 assist in a 2-0 game last night, but what impressed me was his ability to jump into the offense and get back in time to be defensively responsible. As well he plays defense like a power forward, using his size to push people off the puck. On numerous occasions someone would try to hit him and simply bouce off him, one was even Logan Couture

His teammate #11 Porter looks like a pretty good player as well, good vision and playmaking although a bit slow.

Aha, so there are live bodies viewing this
thread:)

Sharp eye man, I noticed that too, #11 feeding some nice passes and plays. Glad you watched the video, gotta love Max Pac's little dressing room dance at the end..

As mentioned previously, 9 goals in 11 games (or something like that) in the NCAA as a freshman, he's looking good, hope development pursues.
