Looking beyond the "Trade," what's still be done?

I just think it was the way Subban created turnovers. Every player creates turnovers by making a bad pass, its part of the game and no one is perfect.

Subban was creating turnovers after what?...the second consecutive spinarama move?...loosing an edge when it was proven his skates had nothing to do with it? Thats amateurish stuff, when you do amateurish stuff at work you get fired.

Re: Looking beyond the "Trade," what's still to be done?

I wouldn't go as far as saying that Subban's hockey IQ is low, but it could certainly stand to be a lot higher considering how much he's being paid. The knock against him is that his hockey IQ does not appear to have improved much since his career began but it was never low the way Eller's is.

Exactly....

They said the Mcdonaugh trade would set us back a few years, but then we made the ECF in 2 of the next 5 years (regardless of the fact Rangers also made ECF-Finals also).

I think we will be fine without Subban...at some point, Bergy felt that Max-Price needed to win now (contract-injury issues), and he felt Weber was a better fit than Subban
And in one of those ecf trips the guy we got for mcd wasnt even on the team. Gomez gets zero credit for the 2014 playoff run. None.

PK trade isn't so much about MB suddenly growing the balls to win now and make a bold move.

It's about MB never liking PK, not believing they could win with him, and finally getting around to convincing ownership to get rid of him.

He does realize though, that getting his way means he now has no choice but to win!

PS: obviously building through the draft hasn't worked out for him

Interesting post, simply toss random crap against wall and see what sticks.

He simply didnt act the Canadien way , ME K was above the team. At the end of the day he had plenty of time to adjust his play , attitude , etc... to the expected way ,not the other way around.

You are the last person I expected to be a kool aid drinker

It isn't about Kool-Aid. It's about accepting reality. PK was an EMPLOYEE of the Montreal Canadiens. Therrien and Bergevin were his bosses. Anyone who's ever held down a steady job could tell you how this dynamic works. You don't have to like your boss or agree with the way they run the company. If you want to keep your job you have to toe the line. Don't think for one second that they are just going to sit back and let you do whatever you want whenever you want the way you want to do it. And Subban will find out soon enough that he doesn't get to do whatever the hell he wants in Nashville either. If you want not to be told what to do play a sport like tennis or golf. But if you're on a team you are responsible to others and you have to submit yourself to taking direction. That's why some people prefer to be self-employed. But most of us have to work for other people which means we have people to whom we have to answer. Such is life. But at $9 million a year you'll forgive me if I don't see PK as a victim.

And how the hell is hijacking yet another thread to debate the trade fit the definition of "looking beyond the trade" as the title of the thread suggests? Because I'm getting bored with it. Subban is gone. Deal with it. Stop making him out to be the second coming of Bobby Orr just because he's good at social media. His instagram skills have no bearing on his game.

Re: Looking beyond the "Trade," what's still to be done?

If missing curfew is a problem then 3/4 of the NHL are problem children. OMG he gave 10 million himself and didn't funnel it through team foundation.

There is also no evidence he didn't do as told on the ice.

In terms of beyond the trade, same issues at centre, weaker on D. Price coming back will assist us.

Muller likely helps behind bench but he is no saviour.

I figure though we should return to our rightful place at or near top of the division. I'm not convinced re Radulov. Enigmatic purely offensive guys Kovalev excluded tend not to do well in Montreal. I fear another Czerkawski, Briere, Semin Parenteay situation rather than a Kovalev.

Re: Looking beyond the "Trade," what's still to be done?

Subban never donated $10M, he has committed to raising the money via his foundation. Still a very commendable thing to do, just clarifying.

Kind of not really worth pointing out though. That hospital now has $10M it wouldn't have if not for PK.

PK's time is worth a lot of money... he could be using it to make more money for himself. Instead he's using it to earn money for sick kids... and guaranteeing them $10M. It's a great thing to do. Full stop.
