Martin Reway Signs

He's also surrounded by a bunch of big of forwards, which helps him a lot. Reway will not have that luxury here.

an excellent point

I truly believe that CanadienFan only pays lipservice to wanting the team to be bigger. Every little player we pick up has a ton of supporters justifying another one.

Right now, off the top of my head, of our top 12 forwards, six are 5'10 and under.

Reway
Gallagher
Plekanec
Andrighetto
Byron
Desharnais

How many other teams have that claim to fame.

Hockey is a pretty homophobic place so any speculation or down right "coming out" is going to be a story.
If he is gay and chooses to come out im sure it will be a huge story. Especially as the first active openly gay nhl player.

But speculation. Thats bullshit. Let the guy live his life in private.

If he comes out and makes it a story.. fine. If not i dont care who he ****s.

as canadienfan i care very little about the team size

if that is with small players or a basketball team i do not care

that is fine but don't bitch when we run into a bigger team in the playoffs who abuses us and we lose.

There's somewhat of a correlation between overall team size (not every player has to be big but you can't have a team full of midgets either) and success on the ice, and this is true for hockey at every level, starting even with mites. It's actually true for almost every sport. Big athletes tend to be more successful than small ones. I know . . . life's not fair.

who is canadienfan? Does everyone in a fan base share the same opinions?

Shut down the message board... i already know what Worm, Habsy and Krusty are gonna say... they are all canadienfan and have the exact same opinion on everything.

At present yes. Replace Plekanec with a sizeable physically engaging UFA forward (Okposo / Ladd), sign Shipachev and dump DD, all of a sudden the top-6 looks different.

that is a lot of moves for Bernie to do when he hasn't shown an ability to do so.

I expect nothing from Bergy....if anything, he will sign a fringe 2nd liner at best.....won't help put us over the top, but such is life

Yep, and if Price gets injured again next season he'll be fine with missing the playoffs because he'll have the same excuse he had this season. It may even earn Therrien another do-over.

Are you saying that Goudreau wouldn't have success with us?

Also Calgary isn't an especially big team. Colborne and Monahan are fairly tall but after that, who?

No, not as much success as with Calgary. And their forwards are big. Backlund is the only top 9 forward under 6'1''.

The thought that the Habs haven't been winning is because they're small is wrong. Being big is not the answer, being talented is.

Yup.

Everyone here would love to have TB's Kucherov, Drouin & Johnson, all relatively small players.

Get talent & then worry about size later on.

No one said that. But you're not going to win the Cup with 4 small top 6 forwards.

But we never do the latter AND we always end up with too many of the same type of player.
