Michel Therrien

You'd think part of the job description would be to look decent when in public ? Surely Molson must be :facepalm

It's crazy how Bergevin-Therrien have adapted to the 2013 NHL....MT sometimes throws the rookies on the first PP wave...I haven't seen this in decades here in MTL.

What you see is what you get.....a vet is sucking, he's gonna get benched, a rookie is hot, he's playing PP and more minutes.

The real test is coming (Boston-Rangers-Flyers) with the physical teams, and back-to-back games.

Up to now, it's been a relaxing home game schedule for us...let's see how we fair in the next 2 weeks

As my sig says, the next game is always the test unless we win.

Maybe its my rural east coast roots, but I always kind of liked Therrien on the first go-round-he seemed like a guy right out of the bay,or off the boat as we say here. But I thought he might have been in over his head back then. So I was glad when he got the gig in Pittsburgh. But I thought we had moved on and was not impressed with the hiring this time.

The time will come of course when he will need to be rerplaced again, but I am delighted he is doing well.

At some point MT will explode during a game. He's been on his best behavior so far but it won't last season all season. And was with that shirt tonight? Very Quebecois looking.

He did tell a linesman to F Off tonight after the Prust diving penalty.

He obviously gained a lot of experience in Pittsburgh

I think he gained even more when he was fired and was a few years without a coaching job. Adds a lot to your humility and how you see the game. I think Therrien sees himself getting a second chance by the habs as a good fortune and I think he is commited to not repeat the same mistake he did in the past. He even toned down his own ego. I think he doesn't want to not be considered again for a coaching job in the NHL. IF he does well here and after a few years is replaced, he would have an higher chance of landing another coaching job with his current approach. He is getting also, a better reputation with players by not being so hard on them when not necessary.

Obviously, things are going well here. Curious to see how it goes when we are on a losing streak.

You can't change something that's innate....

MT will get back to his explosive ways once the team hits a bump down the road......

Unless we do go 63-1 like Bkerr said :shrug

Hitchcock hasn't reverted back to his old crusty self...people can learn & grow if there's a real willingness. Just saying....

That's because Hitchcock has been winning ever since he landed in Halak-land

But I think this has more to do with Bergevin than MT.....it seems clear that Bergevin has well defined rules and wants his people to follow. That's the only reason he'd hire MT for a second stint in Montreal.

Bergevin probably had a good talk with MT about how to act and present himself with the media...because you can feel that on some occasions MT wants to blow up and tear a journalist to pieces for stupid comments, but he pauses, takes a step back, and moves on. It's hard...the HULK in him wants to come out.....LOL

Most people learn from their mistakes. I know I've gotten better since my first job. Why wouldn't MT improve?
