New Canadian Politics Thread

Still a super slim chance to run the table on the last close races, if they have larger than average special ballots. But yeah looks like thr Libs fall just a few seats short.

Have to imagine PP takes his pensions and goes home. Finding a friendly seat to switch ridings, when you know the NDP needs to cave in for another year or two to regroup. Although at this level, there's even the chance the Libs could get to a majority with a handful of resignations and by-election wins, if some CPC candidates decide they don't want to be in opposition again.
No way. PP gonna fight til the end

Unless it was all just complete bluster, Poilievre made it abundantly clear in his speech last night that he had zero intention to step down as CPC leader.

I suspect he’s already working on finding an MP in a safe Alberta seat that’s willing to step down so he can parachute himself in and get back into parliament ASAP.

Though Poilievre did also brag in his speech last night that it was a victory of sorts that they denied the Libs & NDP enough seats to reach a majority together.

And seemed to be heavily pinning his hopes that they’ll be another election for him to lead the CPC into soon on that assumption. Which is looking like a whoopsie-doodle.

That was the smart approach. I’m going to feel like a corpse all day. Just couldn’t make myself sign off until I was reasonably sure how Poilievre’s race would go.
luckily for me, I went to bed before I'd seen any results from his riding. if I'd known it was in play, it may have kept me up.

I also strategically avoided all talking asses. I just popped in here and did some navigating of the election results on CBC myself.

our only hope is that he gets knifed hard by the eastern conservatives first

a fitting summation of his reign as leader - facts be damned.

what a bonkers election. Libs are at 49% of the popular vote, but may not win a majority.

anyone know when they were last so high in terms of popular vote? JT certainly never got that high
