Also quite like the idea that they're quietly aiming at the next spring's convention. That's almost a year's worth of runway for Carney before they even decide if they're going to get their shit together or not.

Neither option is good but my understanding is that he wants a tunnel IN ADDITION TO the existing 401.
But even if it was the other option, do you really think any of the old 401 space would be in any way green? They would simply develop the shit out of it. More fucking condos and pay parking lots is all you'd get.
And what happens in a tunnel that long when, inevitably, you end up with the exact same bumper to bumper traffic jams, only in an enclosed space? You want to breathe that air for 2 hours stuck in a tube? And when there's an accident, what then? You're trapped like rats.
