Vegas is the economic canary in the coal mine in the US. Leisure spending is the first thing that goes away in an economic downturn.
For sure.
But part of their problem is also self inflicted. The Strip (once a fairly affordable getaway) has found never ending ways to gouge their customers.
Been a trend since Corporations began "nickle & diming" customers. I think they've even resorted to adding yet ANOTHER zero on the roulette wheel (in Europe, I believe the standard is just one green/zero).Vegas also getting crushed
>>May was the fifth consecutive month Las Vegas has seen a year-over-year decline in tourism traffic, with visitor volume down 6.5% to just under 3.5 million people for the month, according to figures from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
Because corporations bought up all the casinos and started running them like they run everything else. Instead of just letting the profits from gambling pay for everything so that other sources of entertainment could be offered either free or for a nominal charge, they decided that every part of the overall business had to justify its own existence and make its own money. So now the steakhouse had to make money, the coffee shop had to make money, the spa, the gift shop, everything. And without casino profits to offset the costs, prices for everything had to go up.For sure.

Double zeroes are common. Some casinos use "single zero" roulette as a marketing feature.Been a trend since Corporations began "nickle & diming" customers. I think they've even resorted to adding yet ANOTHER zero on the roulette wheel (in Europe, I believe the standard is just one green/zero).
Thanks, Marner.Vegas also getting crushed

Thanks to the Disneyfication of Vegas from an adults only Sodom and Gomorrah to a theme park catering to families, it's no longer a cheap vacation. The days of the free drinks and $2.99 prime rib dinners are over.
They'll be doing that anyway, eventually. No one in Vegas gives a shit about hockey, and now that they have an NFL team and, soon, an MLB team, the Knights are fucked. Even now, they probably make a fortune off of Canadians who come during the season to see their teams play Vegas. Once they stop going, it's game over.Would be pretty fun if Vegas continued to rapidly decline to the point where the point the Golden Showers became financially unviable.
And if Mitch & co had to pull up stakes and move to Atlanta, or something. One can dream.
They've gotten even greedier:Double zeroes are common. Some casinos use "single zero" roulette as a marketing feature.
