New Podcast coming- looking for Whalers fans/OG Canes fans

I was smart enough to stay off those ESPN boards and anything else "official", I was on someone's personal board setup in the beginnings there starting Summer of 97 (I forget their names, a married couple ran it for several years), that eventually led us down the trail here (Scout, Scoreboards, I always preferred the harder to find places). Allen was there I remember, Stef maybe?, several others... @Punzil (also potentially a Whaler fan reference) may have been Beatle over there along with the infamous RF.. GH too (Bruce probably posted everywhere). We had a good core but still had to fight off a lot of hateful children. Also was on letsgocanes.com (read it, didn't always post) through that board's run.

Yeah... I was Beatle in High School and at the original Penalty Box... Punzil after sophomore year of college and after the PB closed down. Definitely sad to hear about RonnieFranchise, and the last time I even messaged Camille was after her husband passed.

Ugh... those anti-Latvian trolls... there were at least two, because they had different styles. I remember one would blame any loss or tie on Irbe for not pitching a shutout... y'know, even the 1-0 games. "Irbe crapped up another one," he'd say.

As for stats, down the stretch during our first run to the playoffs a couple of years ago, the main Hurricanes website had a much better stats page... you could use it to compare the best of the best individual seasons, and see how much of a shot Dougie had of beating Mark Howe's goals and points records for Whalers/Canes defensemen... which still stand. They changed the site and took that option away during COVID, and it still irks me.

I vaguely recall lurking on the ESPN boards but didn’t find this group until the iteration after the Penalty Box… sadly missing the early days of this group. I finally joined in 2002.
