News Thread for the 2014-15 Season

Mackay should get it but it wouldn't surprise me if Sherwood somehow landed that job. But Chris Hughton? Not a fan of his, so for Palace's sake, I hope not.

FWIW, MacKay has removed himself from consideration for the QPR job one day after reports had him actually taking the gig. Seems like they're having real problems getting someone to take that job.

You mean Crystal Palace? The disagreement is over the composition of the back room staff according to The Mirror. Surprising because that's one reason why He was favored over Sherwood who wanted to bring an intact staff.

It took about 6 weeks for them to replace Holloway with Pulis last year. They probably can't afford that to happen again this year.

Actually, it had more to do with the on-going problems involving, you guessed it, Vincent Tan.

The news came after Cardiff sent a dossier to the Football Association stating allegations of misconduct by the Scot during his time at the club.

Cardiff reported the claims to the FA two weeks ago and were asked to provide evidence, which they have now done.

The dossier also claims wrongdoing by Palace's sporting director Iain Moody, who was Cardiff's head of recruitment under Mackay until he was sacked last October.

Tan allegations hover over Mackay; Palace ends interest

Iain Moody has left Palace as well.

Looks like Moody and Mackay are in serious trouble if these allegations are true, they pretty much hit every PC hot button if the texts are them.

Yup ... and reports this morning seem to indicate that those two are indeed responsible for the offending texts.

A death in Africa, caused by a "fan"

The leading scorer in last year’s Algerian league has died after an object thrown from the stands hit him in the head.

The CAF confirmed that 24-year-old striker Albert Ebosse of JS Kabylie died at the hospital after he was struck in the waning moments of a match with USM Alger.

Kabylie had lost the match 2-1, but Ebosse was the man to pick up their goal. He was hit with the object towards the end of the game.

The president of the league indefinitely suspended league play and wants a full investigation.

^^^ Should make for an entertaining reign, if nothing else. But I foresee another train wreck, which seems to happen every time Neal features in the top flight.

Guess 7 games in is enough time for panic to set in in The Championship.

Two relegated clubs from last year sacking their managers today.

Fulham have sacked manager Felix Magath following their poor start to the season and appointed Kit Symons as caretaker boss at Craven Cottage.

Cardiff City manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stepped down after less than nine months in charge. The announcement was made after Solskjaer, 41, held talks with chairman Mehmet Dalman.

Good option for him imo, there wasn't an obvious team in the EPL that might change managers where he would be a good fit.

And the bottom half of La Liga is all bunched up. There are only 3 points separating Athletic Bilbao in 11th from Levante in 19th. If he can coax a couple of wins out of them, it would make a huge difference.
