There is, but it's purpose and composition is different. It's more of a "you must be this tall to ride this ride" type of organization. The G7 isn't just about size, it's about composition of your economy and willingness to align on monetary policy within reason. China won't/can't be a part of that group because they play games with their monetary policy to keep their manufacturing relatively cheap. India isn't really what I would call an industrialized economy in the modern sense despite it being very big. Russia is a cold, deranged gas station. Why is South Africa treated like a thing?
Sure, but Spain and Oz will just match to the bear if the drummer. OTOH, Oz is strategic re: Asia—Pacific security. Safe harbour in a rough neighborhood.
I mean, it was the G5 before. I guess Italy and Canada could be turfed?
