OT: American Politics

I think a big problem, especially in the red states is that many don't leave their state let alone the country so their world view is very limited. They've been told that healthcare can't be affordable, that you need to go into major debt for school, that you need to carry guns to be safe etc. And if all that stuff was possible or fixable (like it is basically everywhere else), believing in it makes you a liberal commie. It's become a messaging war over there and the GOP is winning 28-3.

Ya, Carney's actions and words don't typically line-up. He continues to say nice things about Trump, about some of the GOP leaders while he negotiates deals that move Canada away from it's dependence on the US. He probably should've said nothing, but he's trying to maintain some type of working relationship with the US while he works behind the scenes with other global markets.

Yeah, I understand the larger strategy behind it. Which is why I won’t criticize him too hard on this, much like his positive comments on Trump’s Iran war at the recent NATO summit.

Just felt like this one we could have safely avoided comment on though. It’s not like Emmanuel Macron would send out a flowery, eulogizing tweet if some random Liberal MP croaked suddenly. But perhaps Lady G being such a close ally of Trump is why he felt the need to comment.

I blame shows like Yellowstone. The dialogue drives me nuts. (short drive) Every conversation is "Nobody tells me what to do" or "smartest person in the room" shit. People eat it up. :cautious:

I sometimes wonder were America would be if the Dem establishment had let Sanders win (instead of putting their thumb on the scale to push Hillary through)

Trump was an awful choice but many Americans believe everything is rigged or as Leonard Cohen wrote decades ago:
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
That's how it goes
Everybody knows

Sanders was the Dem answer to this and lots of Trump people would have voted for him.
