OT: American Politics

What a gig.

People send you cash in exchange for your derision
In many ways he reminds me so much of peak Stern, he used to rage and mock his listeners for being dumb bro morons all the time. And he fully acknowledged that he chose the path of having idiotic fans based on the content that he provided. But at least they didn't send him money like they do with Nick.

Most of these people with platforms are shit interviewers, so now it's a societal level problem.
In today's day and age, it has never been less important to be actually talented. Everyone is a celebrity now. Societal problem, yeah, but it's the reality and I can't see a way to fix it, so you've gotta play the hand you're dealt.

I’m not saying it’s not a problem. It’s one of many that comes bundled with social media. What can you do… except teach media literacy and critical thinking at a young age

My issue with the platforming finger pointing is that it’s not the old days anymore when the New York Times and a few other newspapers and major US networks could act as gatekeepers for what ideas got attention, when part of their job was keeping the media environment free of toxins.

That era is obviously over. So it makes no sense to me when people say “I can’t believe CNN gave this guy airtime or the New York Times podcast had so and so on, or Bill Maher talked to that guy?”

how is this shit still happening. like, why?

surely some or most of these ppl can tell there's nothing there... like most humans with a functioning cerebral cortex can do, after listening to the man talk for like 30 seconds.

One theory:
