OT: American Politics

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

no hyperbole.

he's a little weasel with no spine who lacks the ability to form cogent thoughts or opinions. he'd be a disaster. he'd actually be a worse mayor than ford. he's on the same level as mammolito. whiny know-nothing scumbags.

On the plus side though, the mayor has little legislative authority and only has one vote on council. So as long as the new mayor isn't a complete embarrassment for Toronto's public image they couldn't possibly be worse.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

The problem with Toronto is that the middle seems to have been completely squeezed out. I am firm believer that a leader of a municipality should be able to view things from many perspectives, not be so ideological driven when making decisions.

People like Ford and Chow don't have the ability to view anything from any other perspective than the ones they've already formulated in their heads.

John Tory's about as close to the middle as you'd want, particularly with Bob Richardson as one of the key organizers of his campaign.

Karen Stintz is having Don Guy run her campaign. Sounds like she's inching toward the middle, too.

I'd say your fears are unfounded.

It's been brought up in the past, but what about ... Pinball Clemons. He may lean a little to the right, but he's a great, honest guy, recognizable to voters, lots of connections in the city, genuinely cares about helping people, and loves the city of Toronto. Why not follow up a guy who is so easy to dislike, with someone impossible to dislike.

DMW is such a tool, agree with mbow on that one.

Ford's in full campaign mode, cutting his losses in city council as it's clear he's lost that battle. Look forward to his Anderson Cooper interview.
