OT: American Politics

A bullshit tweet using a very well connected security and intelligence professional as it's source.

IMO, it isn't useful to rule anything out. Not with all the hearings and investigations swirling about.'

I can't believe that a President facing unprecedented levels of obstruction and interference from the media, the intelligence communities, the opposition, and his own party that never wanted him, is having a hard time getting anything done.

Nah, he's just ****ing useless....like a few of us tried to tell you during the campaign. The huckster is in way over his head and always has been. The rubes and angry white people who think their jobs are on the other side of the Mexican border or in China were fooled by his pretty blatant torrent of pure bullshit. We're past the point in the game where you can just talk about shit though. You actually need to be able to legislate and make deals. Something he's showing a complete inability and minimal willingness to actually do.

There is some truth in what Johnny just posted.

The GOP tent is far more diverse than the Democrat one. There are multiple factions within it that don't understand what compromise is.

It's pretty clear that Trump's plan from the very beginning was to do the least amount of work possible, and simply sign anything that would benefit his personal situation. He doesn't need to study any of these bills because he doesn't care about the details, he just needs enough information to know that it benefits him. Then he brings the media into the oval office, so he can look "cool" signing shit, while giving people the impression that he gets things done.

He's a joke of a person.

Maybe so. But he brought it upon himself (including the intellgence services). Reap, sow and all that.

Sure, but the question is why he's being obstructed.

Obama was obstructed because the Republican party (very much on record) made the conscious decision to obstruct everything, even if they agreed with it (~200 of their recommendations made their way into the ACA). Trump is being obstructed because he can't broker deals within his own party (which is a pretty historic occurrence unto itself, especially in the honeymoon period) and he started a war with the media (not just one or two media companies, but basically the entire ****ing apparatus) a year ago.

It's not more diverse at all, it's simply more entrenched. Ideologically, there's not a lot of dissent within the party. I do agree with the lack of compromise bit though. Throwing a monkey wrench in the works is seen as moral righteousness with those people.

He was obstructed because of incompetence. It was a non-sensical bill. Strip away health care for a tax cut to the wealthy? Thats just not what the American people wanted.

If they actually spent some time and effort to replace Obamacare with something better, that provides more coverage, for cheaper it would have passed no problem.

The GOP doesn't know how to actually govern though, as they all admitted.

Part of the tent includes Kristian evangelical fanatics, who are obviously not prone to compromise. Rigid and shouty geezus love seeps into every policy area.
