OT: American Politics

Yeah, it's unlikely and will require definitive proof. We don't know what the FBI has because it's classified. So we'll see. It's not happening any time soon but if Trump's team did anything illegal and traitorous, the public will turn against him even more than they have already. And the Repubs will be forced to act out of self-preservation.

Also don't forget that while mistakes were made by those associated with Nixon who were "not that bright", they look like Mensa members compared to some of the people Trump associates with.

Plus there are still a few that have some integrity, if (note I said IF) things are as bad as they look and it can be proven in court, folks like McCain and Graham will lead the charge. Don't think for a second that John McCain has forgotten the vile (and borderline insane) things Drumpf said about him publicly.

It's going to take 67 senators for that to happen. 19 republicans would need to break ranks.

Good luck. I would spend more time looking for signs of that heart attack.

You underestimate the Senators need for self preservation.

If the president is toxic enough to hurt the party's midterm chances... much of the party will turn on him.

Nixon was impeached when his approval rating hit 30%. Trump is around 40%, so safe for the moment.

Trump has recently started blocking followers....and started adding dummy accounts

yeah, I'll show myself out.

The long term costs to America in relinquishing it's global leadership role to the likes of China, France/Germany and even Russia is pretty hard to calculate. Here's hoping it's just a blip.

yeah the soldier is right

the belief the house would vote articles of impeachment is one thing, to think the Senate would vote him out is another.

Only 1/3 of the Senate has to worry about reelection in 2018, and most are probably from safe states where there is no chance of changing. Maybe 5-6 have to worry about reelection.

Trump supporters are nuts but they are maniacal in their defence of the man. If anything, they are likely to turn on someone who votes him out more than others will turn on Senators who do not vote to get rid of him.

Independents voted en masse for Trump in swing states. They'll likely determine fates in 2018.
