OT: American Politics

thank you, thank you, thank you for making this point. i have been waiting for pages now for someone to make it. (kinda ironic that the gay guy did it?)

no- marriage is NOT natural. which is why it was so special. which is why it is so valuable and necessary. which is why it took so long to develop. which is why it is so important to protect. if we see ourselves as mere animals, our natural state is to run out and f*ck whoever we can whenever we can to carry on the species. if we see ourselves as evolved human beings that are reflections of god who elevated us, then we need things like the institution of marriage to help us be that.

Fascism is not natural either. It's certainly not special, valuable, or necessary.

Automobiles are not natural either. And they are not an absolute necessity for life or civilization.

Moreover, I still fail to see why if I love someone and am with them for decades I need some old man wearing weird robes and a funny hat speaking out of an antiquated book of fables and a piece of paper from the courthouse downtown in order to be an elevated form of life. That's just silly.

no it isn't. but to narcissists like yourself, i guess it is.

KB definition of narcissim: those who try and argue for the rights of all people, irrespective of whether they approve of their life choices or innate biological characteristics that they have no control over, and believe that they should have equal rights before the law and before our inalienable maker, are narcissists and selfish! Only those like me who try to govern everyone according to my personal belief system, whether it affects me or not, are self-less and enlightened.

Kb's version of anything: Krauthammer disagrees, so YOU must be wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.

look, contribute intelligently to the thread, or GTFO. repeated, stupid suggestions that all i'm doing is parroting "right wing bloggers" is nothing but asinine drivel. have something productive to say, or GTFO.

Flaming narcissist! lol

I'm completely gobsmacked that you're using the fact that say, 1.4 billion people in India probably don't believe in gay marriage as an argument against it here.

no, i'm using the fact that 1.4 billion people in india don't believe in gay marriage as an argument against those who are trying to suggest that gay marriage is something accepted by most people. which it isnt. unless you're not willing to call indians "people".

I'm not sure marriage is as valuable or as necessary as you're saying. I'm also pretty sure that straight people have done a ****ing lousy job so far "protecting" the "institute of marriage".

But I still feel strongly that if two consenting adults who are hurting absolutely no one want to be married, they deserve that right.

Wow, I'm shocked that you are speaking on behalf of each and every member of the world's most populous state. Care to explain how your powers of psychic deduction work?

What a narcissist.

It is accepted by most people in the United States, which is the country we're speaking about making laws in. 150 million people isn't a tiny ****ing sliver.

i submit to you that i am on MUCH firmer ground suggesting that a huge majority of those 1.4 billion indians are against gay marriage than you are suggesting you know how society is going to think decades from now.

those 1.4 billion people also don't believe in toilet paper.

And you think that appealing to the wisdom of 300 million peasants living a third world existence bereft of technology or education supports you how?
