OT: American Politics

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

I didn't say it was a good thing - clearly it's not- but we'll done it. To go after Ford on this issue is pretty hypocritical.
This is a guy who apparently chugs entire mickeys of vodka while driving. It's also been reported that the guy drove on St-Patrick's day, after he polished off half a 40oz of vodka on his own, took oxycontin, drank more while he was out on the town and reportedly snorted lines of coke with an escort.

Defending this behaviour in any way is moronic.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

The Premier just said that the province would only intervene if asked by council with provided options and all provincial parties agreed to move forward.

Okay, that might render you more than just slightly impaired under the "legal limit" driving laws.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

I hate bike lanes and the fact he is an arrogant SOB who wants to take cars out of the city. Gregor the Great can suck my ****.

That visceral reaction is what got Ford elected. Not just bike lanes but a host of progressive ideas that some folks just cant's stand.

Ford is just the face for it. Of course, if he could control some of his most extreme impulses, we're not talking about him in the same way.

unless the defence of recent drinking wins, you know you pounded back but weren't really wasted until later, so when you drove you weren't impaired,

that defence works some times

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

I drank and drive in the past, but I learned my lesson by age 25, that it was idiotic and inexcusable.

By all reports, Ford drives drunk regularly. And very drunk at that. And has for decades.

There's no hypocrisy in calling him out for it.

I haven't done a DUI case in at least 15 years. But I was able to get a great plea agreement about 16 years ago for a dude who was doing lines while driving (fast), and I could never understand how he did it while the car was moving at that speed.

It's a brilliant move by Wynne, actually. Now the ball's squarely in Hudak's court.

I think the ideal solution would be to empower council to remove the mayor provided at least 90% of them give their support to the motion.

I'm not so sure. Anytime people view you as unelected, and then you try to remove an elected official you're walking a very tightrope. There are some sets in both Etobicoke and Scarborough that Wynne better be very afraid of if she gets fancy.

Crack mayor denies oral sex with staffer in rant

robford3.jpg

Toronto’s wacky crack-smoking mayor has another confession: He didn’t try to perform oral sex on a female staffer because he does enough of that with his wife.

At a press conference this morning, Mayor Rob Ford addressed the accusation that he tried to go down on a female staffer, one of several complaints filed against Ford in court documents released on Wednesday.

“Oh, and the last thing was Olivia Gondek, it says it says that I wanted to eat her p—y,” he told a throng of reporters on Thursday.

“I’ve never said that in my life to her. I would never do that. I’m happily married. I’ve got more than enough to eat at home. Thank you very much,” he said.

Former staffers allege Ford acted abusive and erratic in the office, sometimes requesting staffers buy him booze on the job.

This is probably one of the main reasons the Premier won't get involved unless everyone else was on board.

Safe.

Her statement was very diplomatic. Kinda refreshing during all this Ford crap.
