OT: American Politics

honestly, this is noise. the focus should still be on what he's actually doing policy wise. the investigation will run its course in any event, and should net a just resolution.

on that note, what might be most concerning is how they have actively tried to interfere with intelligence operations. if there's nothing to hide then let it run its cousre.

no. policy can always be changed.

but what he's doing to the leading democracy in human history may not be fixable.

their policy will have a much more lasting impact than even a very rael scandal (Which is yet to be anything more than investigated) involving the russians. it isn't like the world fell apart because of iran contra or watergate, just like obama was to mend some of the good will that was lost during the bush years.

policy has long lasting effects that cannot easily be changed. just look at obamacare. 28,000,000 people wouldn't wake up teh day after AHCA (theoretically) comes into force and suddenly have no insurance.

as for your broader point - i agree that trump's leadership is severely damaging us interests abroad in very deep and meaningful ways. but at this point it isn't because dumb dubm kushner opened a comms line with russia. if they prove that there was collusion then by all means, they need to be held to account and trump needs to be impeached. but right now it's just smoke and innuendo. like i said - the investigation needs to run its course.

until we get anything concrete, more attention should be paid to a very damaging FP trip where he alienated key strategic allies across all of europe and in the middle east, cozied up to the saudis and then took a big shit on nato.

What are the reasons he is doing those things? And what country gains more benefit from this than any other?

This is why its not noise.

and, ya, those *******s who refuse to criticize that montana nut - so disgusting. that is something that people should be truly outraged about.

the guy physically assaulted somebody for no reason at all and these schmucks are so vapid that they cannot say 'he was inapporpriate and should be accountable'?

get ****ed.

yes, investigators should be asking those questions and figuring out if there is anything nefarious or illegal going on as between team trump and the russians. that is not noise.

the noise is the speculation about it. we don't know the answers, so why assume anything?

Damn, Zbigniew Brzezinski has died at 89.

His book with Brent Scowcroft was my introduction to learning about foreign policy.....and is still one of my favorite books.

Always one of my favorite people to listen to on foreign affairs....even though he didn't have a flawless track record I was always curious to hear his take on things.... RIP Zbig.

Yeah, the Grand Chessboard was my first geo politics book

A pretty prescient look at the future of oil politics. Stands up pretty well ~20 years after it was written.

Violence against the media is a big check mark for a fascist regime.

As far as policy is concerned, most foreign policy imbroglios are largely irrelevant in Joe Six Pack's day to day. It's largely symbolic. But health care? That's where the Trumpanzees have been taken for raging suckers. The Dems need to blow that up big time for 2018. Sadly, I don't think a lot of voters care about fixing immigration or civil rights.

The media is the minority of the week in right-wing-ding land.

#Breaking: President Donald Trump refused to join his counterparts in the G7 Saturday in a pledge to uphold the 195-nation Paris accord on climate change, breaking the unified front of the world’s most exclusive geopolitical club.

So uhhh...he's a **** and all, but this looks like more than just being tired

It's something of a shame that old people vote in stronger numbers than "young" (let's say, under 50), because they tend to prefer other older candidates who are far liklier to have major medical issues, varying levels of dimentia, etc.

We saw how much the job aged Clinton, GWB, and Obama

Trump is already an old, unhealthy bag of shit to start his presidency. There's almost zero chance he comes out of this unbroken physically.
