OT: American Politics

Alan Dershowitz just told Sean Hannity on air that he should have disclosed Michael Cohen was his lawyer when he defended him on his show.

So to the shock and amazement of all, Cohen and Trump appear to be full of shit in their arguments regarding the FBI raid. Weird, right?

President Donald Trump and his longtime attorney Michael Cohen both lost a court challenge related to the FBI’s seizure of Cohen’s documents they both claim are protected by attorney-client privilege.

Cohen had asked a federal judge for a temporary restraining order to stop federal prosecutors in Manhattan from viewing the information seized by the FBI until an independent third party, called a “special master,” be allowed to sort out what is protected by attorney-client privilege.

Similarly, Trump’s own legal representation in this case, Joanna Hendon, filed a letter on Sunday night asking the judge to give Cohen’s team first-access to the material.

There's more, so much more.

“It’s not that you’re not good people,” Wood told Cohen’s attorneys on Monday afternoon, near the end of the two-hour proceeding. “It’s that you’ve miscited the law.”

“I have faith in the Southern District U.S. Attorney’s office that their integrity is unimpeachable,” Judge Wood said. “I think that a taint team is a viable option.”

On Friday, Judge Wood asked Cohen’s attorneys how they could argue that “thousands” of seized documents could be privileged while they refused to provide a list of Cohen’s clients to the court.

Those clients, it has now been revealed, include Trump, Republican fundraiser Elliot Broidy, and Fox News host Sean Hannity, who had asked not to be named. Cohen’s team claimed in the Monday filing that Hannity’s identity was protected under attorney-client privilege, but the U.S. Attorney’s office disagreed, alleging that Cohen’s team was simply employing a delaying tactic.

“Cohen has more attorneys than he has clients,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas McKay quipped.

After much discussion, Wood ruled that the name must be publicly disclosed immediately.

“The client’s name is Sean Hannity,” replied Todd Harrison, Cohen’s attorney. The room erupted in laughter.

One last gem

here were audible gasps and one shout of “holy shit” when Hannity’s name was revealed on the courtroom. I ran outside. I’ve emailed Hannity and he has yet to respond.

This season is killing me

these idiots are so careless. How hard is it to find a different lawyer? Or maybe that's the point. It gave Hannity a boner to know he had the same lawyer as POTUS

Or he's got some greasy shit to hide and needed a fixer. It takes a special kind of scumbag lawyer to be willing to cover up crimes, etc.

Sometimes you don't need a Criminal lawyer, you need a criminal Lawyer.

You're most probably right.

Everyone will assume some type of sex scandal since that's the common denominator among Cohen's other two clients.

Apparently Hannity's afternoon radio show was a treat today, the breakdown courtesy of a reddit thread

- Aired (without Hannity intro'ing) Comey interview clips and music for the first 10 minutes
- Came on air after 10 minutes and said that they'll continue the Comey interview until he decided "whether to say something"
- Comes on air approx 35 minutes later "I.am.on.the.air.....I wish everyone would stop calling me"
- Then denied that Cohen represented him
- Spent the rest of his show ranting about the media

I doubt they'll show that clip on their website. Last week Dershowitz agreed with Hannity on something and it was shown everywhere by them.
Dershowitz somehow got Von Bulow off on an appeal. He's no dummy.

Yeah Hannity looked really pissed off that Dershowitz had the nerve to say that.

probably right, he claims it was about real estate, maybe he felt up a realtor at an open house as he thought real estate porn was real

Only ten bucks?

Jeebus, even some guys in Downtown Vegas ask for $20 to kick them in the junk (not sure what I find more frightnening, those that offer that service or those that want that service)

I think he thought the $10 would give him attorney-client priveleges.

the amount of money doesn't matter, it is the content of the conversation

I can give a free consult and still be bound by privilege.

If you seek advice, then it is privileged.

However, the way Hannity made out, he did not seek advice, just input and perspective which is not necessarily the same. He also went so far as to deny he retained him.

In a move that shocks no one...

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says he won’t be holding a vote on legislation to protect special counsel Robert Mueller from being fired by President Donald Trump, essentially killing the bipartisan bill.

McConnell tells Fox News that the measure’s “not necessary” despite a push by Republican and Democratic senators to bring it forward.

McConnell says, “We’ll not be having this on the floor of the Senate.”

He says there’s “no indication” Trump will fire Mueller — and even if Congress was able to pass the legislation, he doubts the president will sign it.

McConnell says, “I don’t think he should fire Mueller, and I don’t think he’s going to, so this is a piece of legislation that’s not necessary, in my judgment.”
