They travel to the same places, but Macron is operating on a global level, Trudeau simply a national one.
Macron is trying to reform the EU, make plans for Syria, plan military responses for Syria, fight terror in Africa.
Trudeau can't even get a pipeline built in BC, and is simply making the rounds in order to get trade deals for Canada. Really one trick pony. Comes from having very little in terms of soft power and nothing in terms of hard power.

Oh he could get a pipeline built but then he pisses off natives and left BC voters to gain a few votes in Alberta. He can say no and piss off Alberta but also piss off BC because our gas prices go through the roof.
If anything, he is probably waiting for Hulk Horgan's government to fall on tort reform, then ram the pipeline through.

Notice Macron doesn't give a **** and is pushing through reforms even with people protesting in the streets and rolling strikes.
Like I said, Macron is on another level, Trudeau is minor league in comparison.

The BC NDP don't exactly have a great history on keeping internal divisions in check.
France is different from Canada politically so cannot compare who can do what

Just watched the Macron speech on youtube.
Wow, did he ever take a shit on everything Trump has done, said, or stood for as President. But did it without ever saying anything that could even remotely be directly tied to Trump's actions or stated ideals.
Or put another way, Macron at least puts words to beautiful ideals and those ideals that we should be striving for as a society are in direct competition with what should be called Trumpism at this point.

Hardly. Your elected President gets played by everyone. His faux tough guy routine melts the second another leader tells him he is wearing a nice suit.
It is also undeniable that it is easier to ram things through in France where the President is all powerful and there is no federal-provincial jurisdiction. I would much prefer a unitary state where being the federal leader means you can do whateva, but our system does not allow that.

Well, Canada is a federation whereas France is unitary. Now, like most countires, France has regional “issues” (Corsica) which can be complicated, but it doesn’t have a co-equal level of government that can wield power the way Canadian provinces do.
