OT: American Politics

Fuck it, everything is a grift anyway, I can do it for 50.o

I know your honourable ass is kidding but that sentiment is what allows Trump to be just another guy. According to him we’re all self interested, piece of shit grifters. He’s just better and ballsier than everyone else.

I thought the article that ch1 posted was great journalism and dug a little deeper than "Biden old" and "muh dementia." Thought it was an interesting behind the scenes look at the downfall of a man. Was sort of heartbreaking to read, but I'm not against reporting about these things just because trump is bad.

The heart of the story is mostly about how do you convince the most powerful politician on earth to hang them up?

It’s not easy (obviously)
Because Biden could do the actual job (with some load management naps thrown in) and he often could hold his own in front of a crowd.

But then there were some enormous muffins. Too many to ignore.

How do you tell a proud man who still commands a large amount of popularity to step down?

You primary him. That's how American democracy works. If the Democrats thought he was too old to run again, then line up everyone at the fucking Presidential primaries and have a go of it.

All of this shit is the Democrat PR machine trying to shift blame from the party for losing the election.

It wasn’t consensus. Party was split. Even near the end.

But then primary him. Be democratic (it's in the fucking name of your party) and primary him. Don't allow him to run more or less uncontested and then complain about what people already more or less knew (old, so old) a few months later when he has a public seniors moment.

It's the same indecisive, unprincipled bullshit that is at the core of why they lose elections despite having the most popular ideas. What does a Democrat believe in? Dunno, they'll tell us in a few weeks when the focus groups get back to them with what's most popular to believe right now.

It sure sounds like this democratic strategist knew, thought it was so egregious he likened it to "stealing an election from the American people" (after an actual coup attempt by the opposition!) and didn't say much about it until it was too late either. At least until Jake Tapper came around for book material. Off the record still though.
