The undertone here is that American exceptionalism is a mental disorder. They massively overinflate the importance of access to their markets to most other economies. Canada & Mexico? Sure, absofuckinglutely. We send 70-75% of our total exports south, Mexico is more than that actually, about 80-85%

But after that?

China - 15%
EU - 20%
India - 17%
Japan - 19%
Brazil - 11.4%
SK - 16%

In most of those cases, the US doesn't represent their largest trading partner, and/or that nation/bloq actually runs a fucking trade deficit with the US. No one wants to see 10-20% of their exports become more expensive, less competitive, etc. But these muppets in charge right now seem to fully believe that trading with the US is economically existential, when it's just not. Even Canada, as massively important as US exports are, they "only" make up about 16% of our GDP. Mexico's is a pretty monstrous 30% of GDP.

Long and the short of it is that there aren't going to be a lot of countries lining up to bend over to the US over 1-4% of their GDP getting a bit more expensive in the American market (but with a lot of the products they sell the US not having domestic alterntatives for).
