Yeah, and it still grinds my gears that the John Birch Society-leaning part of the state, i.e., San Joaquin valley, where I'm from, is the main reason why. Loved the academic full ride that got me the hell outta there. At the same time, Democrats' dominance in the state sorta-kinda inspires a left-handed hope of sorts in me (apologies, lefties. . .
) in spite of me wanting to backhand Gavin sometimes. Well, often. Sigh. Boy is actually pretty smart sometimes, but in recent times I find myself holding my breath, wondering how long before he undoes his latest smarts. Ah, well. An old woman's musings.

Tommy likely applied that potentially legit stated reason as an easy way to keep his ass "on the right side of history." Can't say I blame him, all things considered.

Mamdani is carrying a fucking gatling gun and these guys just don't get it. There's your left wing populism that takes the country back and fixes all of this shit, but it terrifies the donors, so these fucks are going to keep playing the game the only way they know how to.
