OT: Fanboy fight: XBox V Playstation

Watching reviews on the run today they were mentioning how Sony went hard after that drm and used games. But when asked about game developers doing it. Ie online codes for far cry 3 etc they apparently went quiet. So I think developers are going to have codes to play online and you can trade the game but you'd need to purchase a new code. I ain't saying that wont happen with Xbox but on the 360 it was non existent because of live. I hope it is the same with plus

I have both - and play both - but if you took the xbox controller and put it on the PS3 I would never load up the Microsoft product again.

Fortunately, I think PS3 did kind of rip off the controller for the PS4.

EA the first to put out the online codes for online play has stopped that policy. I think you'll see the rest follow suit at some point.

That's interesting as I'm in love with the PS3 controller, and it irks me when I'm at a friends and have to use the Xbox one.......but I think that could just as easily be a preference that's born out of whichever controller you use first. For me SNES to Playstation, to PS2, to PS3, it's the controller for me.....while I find the Xbox controller overly bulky (also MS obviously made a mistake by not making it a rechargeable as Sony did, using regular batteries/having to buy a charger pack, just isn't logical/necessary anymore.)

..but yeah, all my friends that own Xboxes swear by that controller.

Yeah and Sony came out and basically said they pretty much will not allow game developers to use online codes on their systems. It's a moot point anyways as every company is moving away from that sort of thing cos they know it pisses off consumers.

Microsoft did change their DRM policy but the damage has been done. I think they will see sales increase slightly but PS4 is still gonna win this hands down. That much bad PR to kick off the system, will be still be a nightmare for MS. If you ask average gamer's I bet an overwhelming majority will still think that the DRM policy is still there in 6 months time and It will be a deciding factor in average gaming consumers decisions. It's going to be an uphill battle for MS to shake all this bad press they rightfully received.

There is also the fact that even though they did change the policy MS tried to really **** people over. It's like getting caught stealing and the saying "It's okay, I'll just give it back then". I don't think this fact has been lost on a lot of hardcore gamer's. They ****ed up and are gonna pay for it. If you read through any message board about the Xbone people are still going with the PS4, mainly because it's A) a better system B) it's cheaper and C) MS tried to screw them over in the first place.

I'm afraid I don't even have a dog in this fight, as I won't be purchasing either console. Just don't have the time these days to be gaming, or more specifically I'm trying to curb the amount of time I spend on guilty pleasure entertainment.

What I enjoyed so much about the E3 event, was solely from a business/PR perspective.....it was a thing of beauty.



If/when I get back into gaming though, I think I may lean towards going the PC route.....unless these next gen consoles takes things to another level.

I think you are overestimating people's opinions of the retraction... you may be furious and will never go back.. but Timmy in grade 8 who already has a live account and wants his Kinect so he can wack off to his girlfriend on skype while playing COD could probably care less. Just sayin.

Despite what people think I am really stuck between the two. I don't want to pay for Live and a PSplus account. Right now I have two of each (got an extra ps3 free, and won my extra xbox) and I love it, but I sure as hell won't get both next time, as I don't want to pay for both online plays... And I like online play (mainly COD)

I listen to Gamers, and I respect the opinion of the guys on ROTR (have been watching that show for years now back when it was EP with Tommy Talarico and Lucas) even they have their panel that is split on which system they'd buy.

It comes down to games, and types of games.

I love first person shooters COD, Fighters (injustice, Streetfighter), and adventure games like Tomb Raider and Uncharted. I am not a big fan of the open world stuff, like GTA. So Xbox has served me well in those years. As the online server issue on live is light years better. But that looks to change now.

I feel fairly confident that Timmy has a PC of his own to Skype with his gf?....this isn't the 80's.

Also I suspect that the massive positive PR Sony generated and negative PR MS had after E3, is precisely the kind of thing that influences kids of that age....seeing reddit go off on MS, boatloads of meme's castigating the Xbox One....that kinda shit is going to resonate with them.

In fairness to those that don't believe that.....at the moment things looked best for Sony and worst for Xbox, immediately after E3, you were backing up MS in everyway possible, and saying you were leaning towards getting the One.

If COD is your primary game, I think the Xbox is likely the console for you.....they have more kids/youths online and it results in a higher level of gameplan for such a game (as it was with COD on the PS3/360, imo)

I've only seen this show a half dozen times or so in recent years, but I'm 90% sure I ran into Scott Jones on the street the other day........was always super impressed by his hosting skills, and am mildly surprised he hasn't been scooped up by someone to host something more mainstream. For instance I think he'd be great in a Strombo/Hour type gig.

I have an Xbox and play COD exclusively. For me the controller has been better, getting the content earlier was better and the group I play with have been together for years.

That being said, I would easily switch to any system that have better performing servers. Lag on both ps3 and Xbox is bush league.

+1 to HP, won't load.

I thought the xbox controller was a much more natural fit. I play PS3 90% of the time simply because of playstation plus (free games>), but the thumb positions on the xbox are way better in my opinion. Left thumb is naturally where it feel comfortable and controls movement, right thumb is better in position to use the more important quick keys. Seriously though, the free games from playstation trump that minor complaint.

It shows you how light years ahead the dream cast was. (Yup I have one ). That controller was the basis of the Xbox original, longer sides, offset dual sticks. It also had the memory card that was basically a dual screen. Sure it had a tamagotchi feel but I remember some games the dual screen would give you direction arrows or showed your vital signs.

That system was revolutionary. Time crisis and the other shooter games were arcade quality.

I only own a 360 and I definitely like the controller. Haven't used the PS3 enough to say that the 360 controller is definitely better though.

I am pretty sure I'll be getting the PS4 anyways.

Just swinging around in that game was a f*cking blast.....the physics were fantastic.
