OT: Fanboy fight: XBox V Playstation

What types of games does she play?

If she is into FPSs(first person shooters) then any of:

1. Call of Duty Black Ops 3(1TB) PS4
2. Destiny: The Taken King(500GB) PS4
3. Star Wars Battlefront(500GB) PS4

If she likes adventure/action games:

1. Batman Arkham Knight(500GB) PS4
2. The Last of Us(500GB) PS4
3. Uncharted Collection(500GB) PS4
4. Grand Theft Auto V(500GB) PS4

If your daughter is a casual gamer I'd go with the latter 4 systems to start.

All bundles should run about $450...though I think they've gone down in price in the US. Checked, Amazon.com has them at $350 in the US.

Buy her an extra controller

Yeah PS4 prices just went down for North America. Perfect time for Habsy to be buying a ps4.

I've been playing the battlefront beta and I have not been too impressed. The hits it takes to get someone killed is really too much. Also that hit sensation that some games have figured out and others haven't is noticeable. I was super excited, but the beta has left me feeling meh.

Also, even though COD I pretty much play the online, I still like for the games to have a campaign mode. This Battlefront could have totally given a glimpse into the new starwars (some of the planets in the movie are in the online mode)

I am going to wait to get the PS4 when it comes with the Uncharted 4 bundle. I looked at the new uncharted bundle, but I already have those games.

Habsy, if you want to get your daughter into some of the greatest PS4 games ever, go for the Uncharted collection. At costco (I am sure in the states as well) the bundle comes with the extra controller.

Uncharted 2 is probably my second favourite game of all time. Metal Gear Solid for the PS1 is my all time fave.

Can't ever really take a beta too seriously...it's basically the new form of what demos were. I've heard people complain that the Hoth mission is basically impossible(which makes sense) for anyone playing as the Rebels.

It's frustrating starting out and playing against ppl who have been able to unlock a bunch of stuff and you got nothing lol

I thought that at first.... as I was getting pissed that I was getting killed with that DTS gun... but then when I got it, I was like... why does this suck?

The hit markers need to be shown more clearly either visually or through the controller and it really should take less that 20 shots to nail someone.

MGS3 was my favourite in the series.

So many mind blowing experiences in that game from using your pack of cigarettes to see the lazers and your health would diminish to taking Diazapan to slow your heart rate when sniping to my fave switching the controller port to not have your moves predicted. Effing genius back in the day

Couldn't agree more. Coming from Destiny the mechanics just feel cheap.....I was also really dissapointed with how thin the game is overall. It's basically 7 different variations of PvP with 12 maps. Zero campaign missions. I can't justify paying $80 for that, regardless of how cool the graphics are or how good the soundtrack is.

I fully expected to be buying it, and was on the cusp of pre-ordering it...but after playing the beta, I can't be bothered.

Battlefront Beta was basically the entire game, with non-beta aspects blocked out and tagged as "not available in beta".

You really got a chance to see pretty much everything it's going to be on full release. It's just basically more maps/PvP game modes & survival mode. It's basically just Battlefield PvP Maps with a Star Wars skin.

Shame, cause it looks fantastic visually, but the mechanics are subpar and it's extremely thin on content.

You were right to not pre-order it. Online games should never be pre-ordered. Wait til Christmas when the servers aren't going haywire.

It's funny I actually feel the complete opposite in most instances.....I think single players games are a complete waste of money to purchase upon release when I can get them and play them months later for a fraction of the price.

Online games are basically the only things I buy upon release so I'm playing day one with buddies.

With all the unfinished games out there...I don't really pre-order anything anymore. I pre-ordered the Star Wars PS4, partly because I'm a giant fanboy, but mostly because it gave me time to get money together for it. Might get Fallout 4 at launch...we will see.

Also it still amuses me that a year after being released, Halo: Master Chief Collection still has serious lobby connection issues.

I'll do my best to answer, keep in mind she's still young, turning 9 in Feb.

1) she's a Minecraft freak. I don't get why but she loves it.
2) she doesn't really do shooter games. She loves the Star Wars movies if that helps.
3) she's very artistic, into arts, crafts and music.
4) loves playing sports related games on her wii.

As far as extra controllers, are the wireless ones good or wired better. Also, how many people can play these games at once? Should I get three more controllers so she can play with friends? Does it support 4?

I really appreciate this guys. Completely not my thing although I may buy NHL 16 and try out what you guys are talking about.

One game I suspect she'd absolutely love is 'Little Big Planet 3'....perfect ps4 game for kids, imo. Especially an artistic kid that's into arts and crafts as it has that kind of feel to it and has creative world building capabilities ala Minecraft.

It's one I think you'd even enjoy playing with her.

I don't even think they make wired controllers. It can handle at least 4... I'm not sure, it could even be more. So yeah, get 4 then.

There is an NHL 16 bundle as well.

I assumed she would be older than 9....id recommend getting her Rock Band 4, Sims 4, Little Big Planet 3, and/or any of the Lego games are great starting points.

All controllers are wireless.

Yeah that looks like something she'd like, I'll get her that one too. Thanks.
