OT: Movies/TV Shows

I wanted to get your opinion of the Master... as I LOVE PT, but I found this his most inaccessible movie. Phoenix is a genius actor, but I was getting frustrated at the lack of progress in the film. (I do understand that's one of the themes, ie lack of progression) I also loved the filming, but after a few too many of the shots, I fealt it was being purposely put in every once in a while.

A few pages back I had some other thoughts but no one responded.

Not my favourite PT film

Caught this movie on satelite a few days ago, and was surprised by how good it was.

Amazed I had never heard of it before.

I'm absolutely obsessed with Bar Rescue right now. The most entertaining part of the show is watching the bull-headed owners who have lost hundreds of thousands of dollars vehemently argue with the show's host, Jon Taffer, a man with experience managing and turning around 800 different bars and businesses over three decades, and acting like they know more than him. A lot of them succeed in the end due to the tools that they've been given, but so many fail due to reverting to their old ways. It's just so unnecessary and foolhardy.

That show sucked me in, hard. Fascinating to watch.

Also got me hooked on inkmaster season 2, which was cool to watch.

It's amazing to me how shows stay alive with so few viewers. I realize it's on Cable, but just over 2 million viewers isn't a lot with a population of 350 million. Another great show, Banshee..has even less...averaging 500 thousand viewers...and it got renewed too. It's no wonder Canadian shows that get those numbers are considered blockbusters.

Really? I enjoyed certain segments of it (specifically the composer and ship-based sequences) but it seemed rather disjointed and hard to follow on the whole.

Agree with you on that and i'll probably rewatch it. The movie is also 3 hrs long so it becomes even more hard to follow..Acting, scenery and some of the characters were quite likeable imo so yea..

Tonight's the night kids. GOT season three. I'm so looking forward to this. Seems like an eternity since a new episode was on. Now he needs to get his ass in gear and get the next book out already.

Trying to decide whether to watch every episode weekly or gorge myself at the end of the season....decisions decisions.

Cable shows usually film 10 less episodes, so the cost isn't the same. Also, nowadays with shows, there's other way to get revenue if the show gets great word-of-mouth.

I finally saw Django Unchained on the plane to Montreal this weekend. Not bad but totally over the top although I did love it when he killed the biggest House character I have seen (Steven) since Mammy and Big Sam in Gone with the Wind.
