OT: Movies/TV Shows

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

WARNING* SOMEWHAT GRAPHIC*

Oh, it wasn't fun.

It was a polonaidal (sp?) cyst removal. Basically its an ingrown hair that becomes infected, and needs to be cut out. My incision was large, about 7.5cm long by 7cm deep, so I have to have a special 'vac' unit to speed the healing process.

Its the location that's the real killer, they typically (as did mine), show up right around the tip of the ass crack. So while there is a big gaping hole there, it makes it a challenge to sit.

A buddy of mine had the exact same procedure performed, twice!.

The hole above his ass crack was the size of a soft ball. Nasty shit. I feel for you man

You won't believe this. I have the same thing... it gets inflamed from time to time but I've been lucky enough to avoid anything major yet. My mother and brother both had to have the surgery. I remember when my brother had his surgery, that hole was huge. He went through hell. I hope I don't have to go through it.

Get well soon man.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

Thanks guys.

Its healing up well, but yeah, its not fun. Apparently pretty common though, I have heard as many as 1 in 4 can be affected by it.

Originally, when it first flared up, I just had it lanced (which wasn't fun either), but they said it can recur if not taken care of with a surgery, so I bit the bullet and decided to have it done.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

From Wikipedia:

One proposed cause of pilonidal cysts is ingrown hair. Excessive sitting is thought to predispose people to the condition because they increase pressure on the coccyx region. Trauma is not believed to cause a pilonidal cyst; however, such an event may result in inflammation of an existing cyst. However there are cases where this can occur months after a localized injury to the area. Some researchers have proposed that pilonidal cysts may be the result of a congenital pilonidal dimple. Excessive sweating can also contribute to the cause of a pilonidal cyst.

The condition was widespread in the United States Army during World War II. More than eighty thousand soldiers having the condition required hospitalization.[12] It was termed "jeep seat" or "Jeep riders' disease", because a large portion of people who were being hospitalized for it rode in Jeeps, and prolonged rides in the bumpy vehicles were believed to have caused the condition due to irritation and pressure on the coccyx.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

Back to Movies/TV- has anyone been watching the Hatfield and McCoy show on History?

A buddy of mine has been raving about it, but I have yet to actually start watching it.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

heard of it but know nothing about it

"Anse Hatfield and Randall McCoy, close friends and comrades until near the end of the Civil War, return to their neighboring homes to increasing tensions, misunderstandings and resentments. " - imdb

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

i read that the two families signed a peace treaty in 2003 or some such nonsense....have they been actively feuding for 150 years?

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

I used to love how cartoons used to reference these feuds.... made you learn a few things. I think it was in the Flintstones, and a few bugs bunny as well. You talk to a kid about what a feud is and they'd look at you like you were special.

Plus we had one of the best game shows to watch with your whole family in "The Family Feud" RIP Richard Dawson

the peace treaty has been described as 'symbolic', the feud itself ran out steam about 3 generations back

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

Potentially a well known fact amongst 'Alien' fans, but I had no idea that the basis for the Xenomorph, was based entirely on a surrealist painting Ridley Scott saw, by Swiss artist H.R Giger, entitled 'Necronom IV'

After Scott saw it, he immediately knew he'd found his Alien, and hired Giger to design the xenomorph.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

Giger's paintings are famous.... he had many done before Scott saw them... as you can see as well, Scott did nothing really different either. Those paintings always creeped me out.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

The giant penis on the back of the alien's head is enough to freak most people out.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

GF's turn to pick the movie -- saw "the best exotic marigold hotel" last night.

It was actually very good. Great cast and well acted.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

Finally saw "Take Shelter" on netflix-it's a solid indie film with a terrific performance by Michael Shannon.
