OT: Movies/TV Shows

Man, I forgot all about The Sting, how is that possible?

I'll amend my previous post and say The Sting is my favourite and Brubaker second.

He never coasted on his good looks. He could have milked it much more and made more $.
"Ordinary People" gets unfair crap because it won the Oscar over Raging Bull. Complete bullshit. That is one great drama and one of the best directing debuts ever.

He's just got so many all-timers. Butch & Sundance, Sting, Chase, Condor, Candidate, Jeremiah, Natural, President's Men, and even his mediocrities and chick flicks are all watchable Out of Africa, Downhill Racer, Barefoot, Way we Were, Indecent, Horse Whisperer, Gatsby.

And then he directed one of my favorite little dramas ever with A River Runs Through It, which i'll never not watch.

i've never seen Brubaker tho. i'll have to watch.

He never coasted on his good looks.

….and used his status in the ways you’d hope he would offscreen as well. Be it politically or in supporting the arts with Sundance etc.

He started Sundance after his directorial debut you alluded to with ‘Ordinary People’……and then Sundance went on to kickstart Tarantino’s directorial career with Reservoir Dogs making its debut there.

The Last Castle & Spy Game are two underappreciated flicks of his…..understandable because they’re not close to his other greats, but pretty damn good movies in their own right and he has great performances in both.
Spy Game's one of my favorite movies, period. Good showcase of some of Redford's subtler acting craftsmanship.
