OT: Tennis anyone?

Re: OT: Tennis anyone? Milos Raonic, The Majors, etc.

And I assume it is arizona/nevada type of 42 C

which is like 27 C

Re: OT: Tennis anyone? Milos Raonic, The Majors, etc.

I walked in Seville Spain when it was 47c, it is brutal but hell, they are trained athletes, live with it.

Re: OT: Tennis anyone? Milos Raonic, The Majors, etc.

Pospisil and Bouchard onto the 3rd round. Milos plays tonight.

Pospisil will be in tough in his 3rd round match against Wawrinka (there is just something about Wawrinka I don't like).

Bouchard will be the favorite in her 3rd round match vs. L. Davis. If all goes to plan Bouchard should meet S. Williams in the QF. That would a great result for Genie.

His complexion perhaps?

Will be like men vs the girls in that QF

Re: OT: Tennis anyone? Milos Raonic, The Majors, etc.

I was wondering why some matches were suspended and others were not and also why Raonic hadn't started his match yet as his court is now open. Looks like the heat has finally gone too far.

Extreme heat rule in effect at Melbourne Park

Thursday, 16 January, 2014

The Extreme Heat Policy has come into effect on day four at Australian Open 2014.

Temperatures in Melbourne have soared above 40 degrees Celsius on Thursday, bringing the rule into effect.

The rule means that current matches on court will be suspended at the end of the current set.

The roof at Rod Laver Arena and Hisense Arena will be closed at the end of the set so play can resume on those courts. Once closed it remains shut until the end of the match.

For outside courts, play will be suspended at the end of the set until further notice. No matches will be called to outside courts while the Extreme Heat Policy is in place.

No practice will be held on outside courts while the Extreme Heat Policy is in place.

The Policy will be in place for a minimum of an hour.

It is reviewed every 30 minutes and a minimum of 30 minutes notice will be given to players prior to it being lifted.
We'll update you here with more information soon, and updates as to when play will resume.

Re: OT: Tennis anyone? Milos Raonic, The Majors, etc.

Pospisil has forfeited his match against Wawrinka due to back issues. So much for that clown in his last match insinuating that he was faking.

Milos easily handled his 2rd round opponent and is moving onto face G.DIMITROV in the 3rd round. Of note Del Porto lost his 2nd round match. Him and Milos would have met in the 4th round. Milos will now be the favorite to face Nadal in the QF.

I still remember my cousin (who lives in Melbourne) visiting Montreal last summer when it was 35C and humid and saying that Canada is too hot to live in...

Nadal will destroy Milos

btw what is up with Nada wearing those daisy dukesque shorts?

Makes it easier to pull his underwear out of his ass. The guy has a constant wedgie.

Milos should be able to compete agains Nadal on this type of surface. His serve on hard courts is a major x-factor. I don't expect Milos to win, but I wouldn't be surprized to see a tie break (or two) or even Milos taking a set.

Eugenie Bouchard accède au 4e tour des Internationaux d'Australie en défaisant l'Américaine Lauren Davis 6-2, 6-2

Re: OT: Tennis anyone? Milos Raonic, The Majors, etc.

I saw most of the 2nd set... she looks so good... just as I expected after watching her and Milos at the Hopman Cup a couple of weeks back. She has a very real chance to play Serena in the quarter-finals. I have no doubt this young woman will be a champion before long... she has it all... just needs a bit more seasoning to beat the vets and maybe a little more power behind her serve.

She also has quite a fan-club at her matches. A whole bunch of guys are dressed in t-shirts, each with a letter of her name, "Eugenie" on them and they cheer loudly for her as if she is Australian.

Too bad about Pospisil. Nagging injuries seem to follow him around and back problems in particular can be career affecting.

Milos looks good so far but he hasn't been tested by anyone of note yet so time will tell.

I was surprised to see that Bouchard is also playing women's doubles and mixed doubles in this tourny as well. With the weather the way it is and her advancing late into the singles rounds I wonder if that is such a good thing?

Re: OT: Tennis anyone? Milos Raonic, The Majors, etc.

Nice to finally have a strong female player on the circuit. Been a long time...

Re: OT: Tennis anyone? Milos Raonic, The Majors, etc.

If I was LL, I would drop Wisnewski and try to hook up with EB

Re: OT: Tennis anyone? Milos Raonic, The Majors, etc.

Her game is on right now. She's an impressive player, strong backhand and she seemingly hits with good power consistently.
