Well, she's well spoken and direct. But that doesn't help with curveballs. She just wanted to bail on the question.

No matter, this is about tennis. This kid looks to be the real deal.

It was a stupid question. Would have been interesting had she said I actually like girls.

It reminds me of when Wolf Blitzer of CNN asked a woman in Kansas who just had her house destroyed by a tornado if she turned to God and prayed for his help as the tornado hit. The woman sort of laughed a little as if she wanted to move on from the question but Wolf kept his mic in her face and she said..."well actually... I'm an atheist."

Then they both chuckled over it... but it was awkward.

She's got a bit of swagger. A little bit of Own the Podium arrogance. That's good, because at this level she'll need it.

Kind of interesting that all the top 8 seeds made it to the Men's QF's with exception of the #5 seed. That spot is taken up by the #22 seed who was the guy that knocked off Raonic earlier in the tourny.

I hated that question. I knew some people were gonna focus on that rather than her accomplishment.

In a sport that tries to move away from predjudice they should do a better job screening questions like that.

I was thinking the same thing. There are a lot of lesbians in tennis. If she was a lesbian that question would have royally pissed her off. She took in stride. Perhaps the dumbest question i've ever heard at a sporting event.

Didn't you say she was over-rated?

It is a near sure bet that she wins grandslams. Teenaged phenoms are few and far between in tennis these days.
