you seem to be deliberately choosing to miss the point. the original post, and many posters' stated objection, is not to Bell laying off employees, but rather to Bell suckling at the government teat for money to pay its employees, and then turning around and firing them despite increasing revenue and I'm sure generous dividends and corporate bonuses.

if they weren't asking for taxpayer money to pay their salaries for a stretch, then this is just Bell laying people off...

As someone who hates bell I've got no issues with what they did in this case. I think folks are reaching because of their pre-conceived biases on bell. I get it.

how many employees did they lay off?

people just seem to care because there is a face to some of these names

i am guessing some highly paid folks that provided little value got canned - that is pretty much what every business does to cut costs - get rid of the old expensive crap

i am bias though because people seem really happy when public employees get fired cause they are all overpaid slackers!
