Fwiw I've got nothing here other than the concerns of rust on cast iron. They perform so similar in other cooking equipment that i don't think there's a lot to differentiate on here.

I mean, all things being equal I'd prolly go with cast iron. Just like I prefer a cast iron pan to a stainless steel one - cast iron you can get really nicely seasoned.

But cast iron is likely to be much heavier. Dunno about cost either.

Cost is close on Amazon.. the grates @ Weber, the 9MM is like 250$ but not in the size I want..

And if the cast iron isn't ceramic coated it will rust like crazy outdoors.
