KB would argue that our views are depriving unborn children the right to live, surely a bit more grievous a breach than denying someone public office. It's sadly not that shocking that the majority here simply don't realize that you're always going to offend someone when you start touching on sensitive issues, which is why have a clearly defined "line" is essential. As I've mentioned a few time already, it's acceptable to "hate" somethings in society, and unacceptable to "hate" others. That's what this is about to me, if it's a TOS issue, ban Teeds and the numerous other posters who have broken it in the past, if it's a free speech issue, but on your big boy pants and either ignore or confront his ridiculous nonsense.

I'm pretty sure you would have offended any Muslim who reads this site at some point in time, and they would make similar arguments to what are being made against Alfa. Now we're just arguing over details, not that offensive comments about race, creed, colour or religion have been made.

I didn't even notice the "sig Heil" in his signature. Crazy stuff.

I didn't think much of it other than a weird play on words, as the term is spelt "seig heil". Though his opinions laid bare over the last 24 hours have clarified somethings there.

All of my arguments have been based on cultural clashing.

He's going on about jew blood, ect.

You are really trying to equate the two?

I see what your saying, but there is a line that was crossed.

There is lots of making fun of jews and italians and blacks and everyone here, but its all good natured. Similarly there have been some heated debates on religion and things like abortion but that is people discussing issues, not other people, even if the manner in which it is discussed is not entirely respectful of each other.

But its not everyday that someone says stuff like this group caused 911 and WWII and needs to be rounded up and shipped off seriously. In fact I can't say I've ever heard anything like that around here. Even teeds crazy never went that far (he's certainly talked about jewish conspiracies, but never what we should do with them), and he is the least sincere poster here anyway.

No, but again we're down to arguing details of offensiveness. The "line" here isn't cultural or racial sensitivity, but something else and chosen subjectively.
 
Again, as 101 points out, this isn't a free society - it's a hockey message board. We aren't trying to stifle him in the courts, we're trying to say we don't want to talk puck with a clansman.

The guy has lost any chance to have a reasonable conversation on this board.

Fair, I see your points, but again I see this as a rather subjective line that was crossed when some pretty nasty anti muslim stuff has been said here in the past (some of it by me).

For me its not about what was said in particular, but rather that the guy actually believed it.

When you say nasty shit about muslims you don't post links to racist websites and quote books to back it up and "learn" everyone because you believe it.

You are just being an insensitive dick. Which I don't have any problem with. Its not the language that is the issue for me, but rather the "oh shit he's serious."

Sure, but I actually believe that anyone who believes in a personal sky god and either his zombie son who is also him or his schizophrenic desert warlord buddy are all loony. Again, what is and isn't offensive is extremely subjective. In this case, Alfa has just touched on something offensive to more board members than being anti religious or pro abortion is.

I guess I'm just trying to figure out why it's such a big deal to you that a message board bans a poster that is posting something that offends most of the board. Most people don't want to have discussions with people who post links that are sympathetic to the Nazis.

I tend to agree with ME that the line being drawn is subjective but I am fine with mods editing posts (alfas and others) for a bit.
