Maybe if the ruling classes paid attention to the people's frustrations on this the result would have been different.

But then again, the elites and experts just expect the people to just blindly follow what they decree.

I'm watching to see if trudeau makes this mistake on electoral reform

I guess the aforementioned million Poles flooding the trades market and working for a fraction of the going rate had no effect on the labor force.

I really hate agreeing with you, but you are right.

The ruling classes don't take things like this seriously when it's front and center in the minds of the working class, older generations.

This is just another case of the goverment not having a feel on what's happening on the ground.

It's telling the remain camp didn't run a campaign on the benifits of staying in, they ran on the horrors of if they left. Trying to scare the people to stay in. We saw this in canada recently when the alberta PCs got those alberta business people on a news conference to try to tell the plebs that they needed to vote PC or else. It's never works well.

I'm talking about skilled trades like plumbing, not working at Starbucks.

You can't accept the free market when it works for you and complain when it doesn't.

Poles work for less and harder..they get those jobs. Simple.

If the idea of Polish immigration is what's bothering you..ie immigration is something nations can control if they control their borders..well there are certain industries like manufacturing that have been almost totally displaced to the 3rd world nations. How is that different? How is that going to change with Britain exiting Europe?

Umm, yes, you can. It's called a referendum on staying in the EU or leaving.

Corporations and big business have negotiating power...they tell governments..do a, b, or c..or we move jobs. If governments listen..which is usually some form of austerity..regular folks are f'ed. If governments don't listen..the corporations move their business to nations that do listen..and then regular folks are screwed again. Britain leaving the EU does not change this.

Please continue reading...
To your second point, yes some industries are gone and they are not coming back.

But a heck of a lot of industries also got swamped with low wage workers from across the EU. A situation that would get much worst if truly joined the EU. A situation that Britain couldn't control. And when given a chance to address this with a referendum they did so.

Britain is the world's 5th largest economy. Where there is money to be made businesses will follow. The EU could cut off their nose to spite their face but would they want to screw france ireland and Spain to do so?

As for corporations and big business versus the general public, it's a slippery slope to side with them over the masses. And telling the people that the elite, the experts, the ruling class, the rich, big business, the technocrats in Brussels know best leads to results like this, working class people giving the establishment the big ole middle finger.

B

it's a slippery slope to side with them over the masses.

You're setting up a false dichotomy..corporations vs. the general public. It's much more complicated then that. I can guarantee you that Britain will not remain the 5th largest economy if the issue becomes about big business or the rich vs. the masses.

Maybe they drop to 6th,falling behind france, but I don't see Italy or brazil passing them.

Also, it's not me setting this up. When you watch the news, every group under the sun was telling the British people to vote to stay in, that their concerns didn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

Their own government

Corporations

The EU technocrats

Obama and the Americans

Banks and financial institutions

All trying to create a narrative of "look how shitty it will get if you leave, much much more shitty than your little insignificant concerns about immigration, low wage earning flooding the country and sovereignty"

It's a part of the government knows best attitude and it's nice to see people flip all the aforementioned groups the bird and say to hell with it all, if we sink we sink but at least it will be a British hand at the tiller as opposed to the unelected technocrats in Brussels.

A group of technocrats who nobody says good things about other than "they're not THAT bad"

So one person owns the gun but the other doesn't? Furthermore, not all shooting is done at a range, some people can't even afford going to the range. Especially when they force you to use their ammo. They sell reloads as new and **** up your gun.

lol..apparently a lot of British googling "What is the EU?" AFTER voting to leave the EU.

Top five questions

1. What does it mean to leave the EU?
2. What is the EU?
3. Which countries are in the EU?
4. What will happen now that we have left the EU?
5. How many countries are in the EU?

Matters not. They made the right choice.
