OT: The News Thread

Ending up in the drink is always a concern in the back of my mind on early season trips. The icy water temperature at that point of the season is no joke. Luckily it's never happened to me, but I always make sure I've got all my clothing/gear in a dry bag.

And nothing really beats an early or late season trip where you get nice weather combined with no bugs.
 
The difference is just too much for me not to wait.

May/June is a bug disaster and then literally July hits and they're all gone.

I don't mind cold or rain or anything but the bugs just ruin everything.

man, I dunno, I have no problem with horseflies. they are so easy to kill, and need to take so long to successfully bite you that I find I usually have ample time to react.

I will say, if they succeed in biting you, fucking hurts. but also, as soon as they start biting you, it fucking hurts and you can feel it which gives you the warning you need to KILL them before they succeed :p

my two cents on horseflies!

yeah funny enough my bag was in the boat that got went and all my gear stayed dry in my dry bag. only casualty, I believe, were most of the rolling papers...

and yeah, the fall trip we did in Keji (national park out here) was pretty fucking spectacular.
 
We were up near Tremblant when the storm hit. We have kids, so we were cautious when we saw the advisory and got back to the hotel before the hammer fell. One of the few hotels to have power two hours later. The only working gas station in the area was a ridiculous SUV Mad Max cage fight of panicked city slickers. lol Most restaurants and grocery stores were whacked too, though some were able to keep fridges going with generators.

Teachable moment for the kids…
 
I did but it pushed out regionally eg I got it at dufferin and finch but roommate didn’t get it midtown.

sure, compared to a Predator. but not compared to other flies.
