OT: The News Thread

Why? Why should a corporation be able to charge twice as much for one usage of their product than they charge for another usage? That's a dangerous ass precedent to allow a drug company to set.
Because Ozempic isn't meant to be a weight loss medication for lazy fatasses. It's needed medication for diabetes patients and if they are to be assured access to it, you need to keep the fatasses from buying up all the stock.

Jonah Hill and Oprah could cause a worldwide Ozempic shortage all by themselves.

Also, charging the fatties more will help subsidize lower prices for the diabetics who actually need it to live.

You realize that most diabetics got that way the same way overweight people got that way...right?

The way to manage supply if there's an issue is for government to regulate/ration it, not to let the company dictate that people who have more money can get it for whatever use they want it for.

I assume cause wehave hates fat people
No, I hate lazy people who look for shortcuts for everything. This is partly why we are where we are in this timeline. Too many people looking for quick fixes instead of doing the work. These are people who vote based on simple slogans like "Axe the tax" because actually thinking about stuff isn't as fun as lobotomizing themselves on social media. I'm sure it would surprise some people but If you need to lose weight it is possible to do without resorting to a medication. Try eating less and doing some exercise before going to the doctor for a script. Not every problem in your life can be solved by a pill or an app. Sometimes you need to break a sweat.

The reason why so many people (celebs especially) are flocking to Ozempic is because it's convenient and requires zero effort or commitment to change behaviors on their part. It allows one to remain lazy even though being lazy is probably a major factor in their own obesity. This is never a good reason to put something in your body that you can live without if only you would get off your ass and exercise.

TL;DR

Yes, WeHave hates fat people.

Also, “something something, should pull themselves up by their own bootstraps instead of using drugs, etc.”

And I didn’t get to the end of the post, but I assume there’s a part in there about a fat Leaf fan stealing his girlfriend one time.

"If you need to lose weight it is possible to do without resorting to a medication"

it literally isn't for some people - PCOS, hormone issues, thyroid issues, and various other conditions.

but even if you (incorrectly) assumed everyone fat has to be lazy... lazy people don't actually deserve to die! i know, crazy.

and course, it's beneficial to governments for less people to be obese. beneficial to insureres, beneficial to health care systems. beneficial to have more people healthy and able to work.

There's thousands of modern convenience baked into your life that you can't do without and are infact a "shortcut" for doing it a different way that someone else could moralize in your direction about. You drive to work, don't grow your own food, didn't build the computer you post on, spend company time being a hypocritical cunt on FI, etc, etc, etc.

I'm reminded of a conversation with a friend during which she stated, with confidence, that stationary Indian tribes, e.g., Pac NW, were lazy compared to the nomadic plains Indians. I asked her when she last made and maintained a skein. Btw, she willingly and heartily eats animal flesh, but wants nothing to do with the behind the scenes of how it got to her plate.

Doctors prescribe ozempic for weight loss. Are you saying you know better?
