OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

****ed if I know. My guess is that he can't really do it at a high level, no. Hope to be proven wrong. I would love one addition that can either create for himself off of the bounce, or someone dangerous off the catch and shoot on the move like Reddick, TRoss, Ellington, Seth Curry, etc.

Same boat.

I like the idea of Curry! Dude can flat out shoot.

TRoss would be a great addition to the current team off the bench.

Redick is available. I like the idea of weakening the 76ers while we get stronger. Other teams, including the Lakers, will be in the hunt but maybe JJ wants a ring before he packs it in.

Jezus, coach of the year is the guy our coach schooled in the eastern finals.

The injustice. Change this stupid structure to include playoffs.

Moar F5 season:

- Apparently the Celtics are emerging as a major player in the Kemba Walker sweeps. As a division rival, this makes me smile. As much as Kyrie is a weirdo who can take over and ruin a room, Kemba is discount Kyrie on the court. A step down at literally everything. Shooting, distributing, rebounding, defending. He's also 2 years older than Kyrie. Where Kemba might stabilize that group and make them better than they were last year, he brings a lower ceiling with him too.

- Dallas is another team in on Kemba

- One half of the "Double Dirks" is close to signing a 5 yr, 158 million dollar max deal to stay in Dallas

- Iggy said in an interview today that last year he had a leg fracture that was reported by the Warriors as a "bone bruise". The NBA is going to be tightening up medical disclosure over the off season I'm guessing. There's no way Vegas can be happy with how poor the current system is working and they generate a lot of money.

- Same interview, Iggy claimed that Mark Jackson was blackballed from the league for being a pretty significant homophobe.

- Cavs are expected to release JR Smith. No, I don't want him. No I don't care that he can shoot. I wonder if Lebron even wants him back

- Apparently Jared Jeffries (of all ****ing people) once told Kyle Lowry that he would never make more than 5 million a year in the league. Side note, but Jeffries had a reputation through out his career of being both lazy (relative to other NBA players) and a prick (relative to room full of puppy kickers)

- Rockets plan on recruiting Jimmy Buckets. That's a ****ing interesting locationg for Jimmy. Fits his window a bit better than running with the young cats in Philly. Houston needs to win now and Jimmy is turning 30 shortly. So he also kind of needs to win now (though he probably turns into a hell of an "Iguodala" type when his time comes to be a veteran ring chaser). Apparently the move would be a S&T

- Lebron's lone 5th place MVP vote came from the NBA.com fan vote, not a media member.

- Lakers have apparently set up a meeting with D'Lo. Seeing that it was Magic who more or less singlehandedly tossed him to Brooklyn, it appears that the way is paved for him to return. Would be vicious in the space provided by Lebron and AD, vicious. That iteration of the Lakers team would be incredible.... Raptors in 6.

- Danny Green on visiting the White House "I think it's a hard no".

- Woj reporting that if the Warriors don't come with the 5 yr max deal, Klay Thompson may take that Clipper money. Remember I was talking about the knock on effect of Kawhi probably staying in Toronto? If Kawhi stays, there's going to be a series of dominoes that leads to some ****ed up player movement around the league, book it.

Ive heard Garrett Temple's name linked to the Raps if we keep everyone and use MLE

Kemba to BOS makes me smile too they should go for Vucevic to replace Horford and give Rozier a bigger role

Why would GS not max offer Klay? There’s no chance.

Has anyone mentioned the reports that KD is pissed at GS and doesn’t intend to go back?

I can't see Temple being our MLE. 33, coming off of a down year. Decent size, pretty good 3&D guy but he's more of what you go after if Danny Green isn't coming back. He's basically a meh to bad version of Danny.

Vet min, bench shooter/defender? Sure, why not. I'd rather go trying to get a legitimately good player to add to the rotation with the MLE though. Someone who will take the discount to ring chase for a year.

Good question. Maybe the idea of spending that much cake on Klay and KD, going deep into the luxury tax to do it, and maybe being relevant again in 20-21 isn't overly appealing to them? This year is the last season of "cheap" Draymond as well, so can they afford 4 max contracts in 20-21?

Yeah, look at yesterday's F5 season update.

Well I’m assuming KD is done there. So that’s one less.

And you think Green gets a max deal??

If he was a free agent this year with all the **** you money floating around? Yeah.

Next year though? Probably not. Something in the 25-30 million dollar range though, most definitely.

I could swear the analytics have shown dray regressing the last few years.

They have...except for in the playoffs. Like Kawhi.

12-13: .028ws48, -3.1bpm --------------> .125ws48, 3.8bpm
13-14: .119ws48, 2.8bpm, 3.5rpm --> .109ws48, 6.8bpm
14-15: .163ws48, 5.0bpm, 6.8rpm --> .161ws48, 6.0bpm
15-16: .190ws48, 5.8bpm, 9.0rpm --> .171ws48, 7.1bpm
16-17: .160ws48, 5.4bpm, 7.1rpm --> .196ws48, 8.1bpm
17-18: .127ws48, 3.2bpm, 4.0rpm --> .162ws48, 7.2bpm
18-19: .100ws48, 2.0bpm, 3.4rpm --> .111ws48, 4.9bpm

Hmm I was wrong - even his playoffs metrics dipped this year (though still pretty great).

Looking at the other numbers it seems the main issue is that his 3pt shot has completely fallen apart.
