OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

Oh, I’m definitely a bitter person.

But bitter about Kawhi leaving? No, not really. Again, it just sucks from a "what could've been" standpoint. And it sucks because it hasn't really worked out on the court for either Kawhi or the Raps for the past two seasons (assuming this report about Kawhi being out with an injury is true).

And again, the parallels between Kawhi and Tavares begin and end with a free agent going to play in their hometown. That's it. The situations leading up to either man's decision, the reaction of each fanbase...literally everything else is not comparable at all.

And funny enough, no, I very much don't like that Tavares came to the team I root for. I was one of the few around here that was always opposed to signing Tavares to a long-term deal.

OK...hold up.

In your mind, any Raptors fan that doesn't actively cheer for the Clippers to win a championship with Kawhi is in the wrong?
if you switched allegiances to become a Clipper fan that would be ok though

No, be indifferent.

Lame. He’s not on my team anymore. Fuck em.

Not bitter at all.
So

Stars who have never been on your team before : indifferent

Star who was on your team 1 year, won a title, left : fuck em?

It's so dumb.

Like there were reasons to hate the Clippers before Kawhi got there, but to do it because he left, and fuck him for leaving is just bizarre to me

And to be clear, while i am confused by the bitter Kawhi takes it's not necessarily wrong. What i do resent is those of you bitter people mocking Isles fans for their bitterness to Tavares.

No, be indifferent.

No thanks. That’s no fun.

I’ll continue on with my approach of wishing Kawhi well, but hoping the Clippers fail to win a title with him.

Part of it’s the way the Clips openly courted him throughout the Raps’ entire championship season. Part of it is Ballmer being an annoying mega-billionaire asshole.

And then another part is I generally cheer against any Lebron-style super-friends team in the NBA. So I’d like to see the Nets lose just as much as the Clippers. Maybe even more, since Durant might be the biggest weenie in all of pro sports.

Nah phony decides who you cheer for and what emotions you feel. Deal with it.

Who cares about Kawhi? You guys are pathetic for bringing him up two years later ....the most important thing is that Uncle Dennis is happy. Full Stop.

I mean fair, but cheering against him says alot more about who you are as a person than you probably intend it to.

There are a lot of dudes in the NBA to hate on. Basically all the Nets, Lebron if you still want.....Kawhi aint one of em.
I don't think so. It's a sport. I am not wishing he gets cancer or anything haha

My team is out of the playoffs and I need something to get me excited. I can't cheer for other teams. Cheering against certain teams or the team certain players play on is fun. I don't see an issue there.

It's entertainment.

Like, that's fine, i have teams i prefer over others too, and frankly i dont want to see the Clippers win ( better them than the Nets though by a mile) but it has nothing to do with Kawhi bolting the Raptors. If prior to Kawhi leaving you were okay or indifferent to LAC and now it's fuck them cause Kawhi left i kinda think that's reflective of who you are

Calm down. It's a sport.

All im saying is that if you feel like Kawhi had some sense of responsibility or loyalty to Toronto and broke that, you might feel that about people in your life and feel extra hurt or bitter if that happens to you. Perhaps the latter influences the former.

Like, im super antsy that Mindz and Preston wont be my real friends. I need to be loved by the cool kids....Would probably crush me if my fave athlete and I met and he didnt like me.

Or maybe it's just a stupid sport and cheering against a certain team doesn't make you a bad person no matter what the reason is

I dont recall saying it made anyone a bad person, just bitter and perhaps with trust issues. Neither of which make you bad necessarily.

Exactly, Kawhi might as well be a character in a movie that used to be a good guy but now is a villain. it’s fun to see him lose on the court.

If I saw Kawhi off the court (in a bar, let’s say) I’d be inclined to buy him a drink and toast the chip he brought to Toronto
