It worked out that way. But when the Raps made the deal, Pacers were an elite team with a healthy Hali so that pick wasn't projected to be very good. Pacers also wouldn't have tanked if they knew they were going to give up the pick to TOR.
Crazier thing was they traded this pick to the Clippers for Zubac after the Hali injury, when they were near the bottom of the standings and the risk of losing the pick was real.

Main piece was a 1st in the 24 draft. The spurs used that 8th pick on Dillingham.
It was a very poor draft overall so the Raps dodged a bullet giving it up. It was the Poeltl contract that was the killer.
Windhorst crucified the Raps for the contacts of BI, Quick and Jake

They made way too much of them tbh. Ingram was the 41st highest paid player in the league this season, which is higher than he should be but whatever. We paid the "haven't made the playoffs in a bit" tax to get him to be here. IQ the 58th highest paid player and the advanced metrics consider him a ~90% percentile player. He's paid the same as Jordan Poole & Jerami Grant. A bit more than McCollum, Dejounte Murray & Tingus to be busted....and it's a flat contract, no annual uplift. I'm not remotely worried about it.
Jake...well fuck, just do the Sabonis trade.

Swept. Bron is likely done in LA. If Cavs do well here, he's got to go home to Cleveland for a season or two.
