OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

Yeah, Pelinka knew that he needed a big and was already willing to trade Knecht for one. We'll probably see one of Gafford or PJ Washington traded this summer, and I figure it's Gafford. He would be a sneaky good add for anyone that needs a big. He's a nerdies darling that never gets starters minutes for some reason. He would be a huge get for the Lakers.

The way the Lakers finished the season, I didn't expect them to be an easy out in the 1st round. Gobert going for 27 and 24 underlined one of the major roster problems after the Luka trade. The Lakers badly need a centre. They also need to find a way to turn some of their misfit rotation toys into better players. Hachimura, Vanderbilt, & Vincent specifically. That's 41 million next year on 3 guys who don't move the needle. Hachimura can shoot but can't defend. Vanderbilt can defend but can't shoot. Vincent is a small PG on a team with Luka and Lebron, while not being a POA defender. DFS is the only role player who actually fills an entire role, so keep him. Knecht should probably get a good look next year to see if the D has improved enough to be a floor spacer for this group, he has most of the tools. But if someone wants to give up something good for him you need now, peace out.

If I'm Pelinka, I look at Lopez in free agency and circle around to my boy Nico to see what he wants for Gafford. Would happily do a Gafford for Hachimura flip if he was down. Consider GTJ off of the UFA scrap heap as an upside play (he at least works on the defensive end, can shoot and will be cheap) if I can get rid of Vincent and look at a POA defender either by trade for Vanderbilt, or even Knecht....or in free agency, with NAW or Melton.

They might be really good next year.

Would Nico do another trade with Pelinka this soon? If the Lakers improve as a result of another trade involving him, he'd hear it.

Honestly, this smells like Presti Time to me. I took a quick look around the league at who had the pieces to make this happen and who it made sense for under the assumption that we would offer Scottie + Salary + Draft Equity (2-3 1sts) and I could really only come up with Orlando (Banchero...but I doubt they do it to accelerate their timeline), Houston (lots of ways to do it for them, they've got a lot of kids), Atlanta (Jalen Johnson + Risacher + salary and picks)

...and OKC. Presti is going to do this, fuck.

The tough part is making the salary work. But Chet + Joe + Caruso + more picks than anyone else has is probably the best package anyone out there could offer

C - iHart
PF - Giannis
SF - Dort
SG - Williams
PG - Shai
6 - Wallace
7 - Williams
8 - Wiggins
9 - Topic

Fucking obscene. With a ton of moveable salary and draft equity to keep the party going through the rest of Giannis' prime. Like, if iHart & Giannis don't work well together for whatever reason and you need a stretch big to play with him. What good role playing stretch big out there doesn't iHart and a random 1st get you?

Pistons are pretty okay now. The power of useful veterans around the kids. Beasley, Hardaway, and Tobias changed their culture more or less immediately. Nothing special, just some actually pretty okay rotation vets. Same thing I've been asking for here.

don't hate them, just think they're overrated.

knicks fans/media think they're a top contender and they're just not.

well, i guess i kinda hate KAT.
