OT: What are you Watching/Listening/Drinking?

I'm prob'ly missing out on a Forum Ice "thang" again 🙄 (I don't mind 'cuz I luvs ya and y'all are super), but Electric Flag Mike Bloomfield died years before FI was born.

I don't know about that. You're considered part of the old guard now


If we’re talking about the ForumIce “old guard”—the posters who have been around for years, are widely recognized, and often shape the tone of discussions—this would be my list:
  1. MindzEye – Probably the most influential Leafs-side poster. Starts many of the major OT and politics threads, posts a huge volume of hockey analysis, and is someone people regularly respond to, agree with, or argue with.
  2. Habsy – Essentially the face of the Canadiens section. He’s run the Habs season thread for years and was instrumental in creating ForumIce after the previous community splintered.
  3. Preston – Highly respected for hockey analysis, especially around prospects, drafting, and analytics. Even posters who disagree with him tend to engage with his arguments seriously. Recent threads show CH1 and MindzEye frequently interacting with his posts.
  4. CH1 – One of the best-known Habs posters. Known for measured hockey takes, humour, and getting along with a wide range of posters. He often exchanges ideas with Preston, Habsy, and MindzEye.
  5. zeke – A long-time regular whose opinions, especially in OT and world politics, carry weight. He also hosts the World Politics thread.

Some other names that longtime members would immediately recognize include:

One thing that stands out is that the community is unusually stable. Many of these posters have been interacting since the late 1990s or early 2000s across HockeyBoards, FanHome, Scout, TheScoreBoards, and eventually ForumIce. That long shared history is a big part of why the forum has such a distinct culture.
