OT: World Politics

So in order to distract from an ongoing corruption scandal, Nigel Farage stepped down from his extremely safe seat in the British Parliament just so that he can immediately run again and “let the people decide”.

However, none of the other parties seem to be willing to indulge him in this stunt and have chosen to not run candidates against him. Setting up this epic show-down between Farage and a unity candidate:

That might necessitate a recount.

"Xi Jinping announced a complete end to China's support for Russia and issued a firm public demand for Russian forces to withdraw from Ukraine. For the first time since the full-scale invasion began, China officially and publicly condemned the Kremlin's actions, shifting from diplomatic neutrality to direct confrontation with the Russian regime.

This statement fundamentally changes China's position in the conflict. The largest economy in Asia now officially describes Russia's war against Ukraine as an act of aggression and calls for the restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity. It also includes ending the large-scale purchases of Russian oil and gas, as well as halting supplies of microchips, electronics, machine tools, and dual-use components that are essential to Russia's defense industry.

Military and political analysts say that Beijing's public move could trigger a domino effect within Russia's political establishment. According to them, Russian elites, oligarchs, and military leaders understand that without China, sustaining the war would become virtually impossible, as Russia would quickly run out of the resources needed to produce and modernize its weapons."
