He got stopped by a guy who has stopped 2 fighters in the last 12 years.

Don't get me wrong, all sorts of credit for taking a match outside of his discipline, but yeah...Floyd doesn't hit hard like that. Not for a guy who was probably 20 pounds heavier than Floyd at the bell.
 
The judge who scored GGG-Canelo at 118-110 needs to be investigated for fraud.

Great fight though. GGG gave away a few rounds early to nerves but basically stalked and dominated with pressure for the last 9 rounds of the fight. I can see the fight being 114-114 best case for Canelo and if all 3 cards were in that range I wouldn't be cranky, but 118-110? Obscene. Mockery of the sport.
 
Great fight. One of the best in recent memory. I saw a GGG win but not the least bit surprised at the outcome. That 118-110 is an embarrassment. I'm going to watch the fight again when i get a chance but i didn't see Canelo with 6 rounds.

Clearly a cash-grab decision influenced by the big wigs.

I honestly don't see a fight for him in that division that would be worth it at 38 yrs old with as much mileage and injuries he's got. Romero might actually murder him. Whittaker is a ****ing killer standing up, pretty close to the worst stylistic matchup Bisping could ask for. Rockhold appears to be back on form as well...there's maybe some people who give a **** about seeing that rematch, but it's not a "money" fight or anything.

The other thing is...other than the Rockhold fight, he hasn't beaten a legitimate top flight opponent in ****ing years. He's beat way past their primes Henderson & Silva to pump up the name brand value of his recent record, but that's about it. The top 5 in that division is a group of murderers that don't really have enough name brand value to put up the type of sales to make it worth enough money to get beat into a fine paste.
 
You're probably right, I just don't think anything "makes sense" for him at his age and mileage. He made a comment in the presser about not wanting his career to end with getting choked out. I can't imagined getting bludgeoned by a Cuban in London being a better way than choked out by a Canadian at MSG, but whatever man.
 
Yeah, I don't care to see him fight again either.....just know Dana would for sure put a nice paycheck in front of him to fight in England & I'm sure Bisping would enjoy fighting in front of them one last time while collecting a quality payday.

But I agree....if he fights any top contender at MW he's liable to get starched.

Nah, I think Dana is legit trying to make Whittaker a name with some star power. GSP-Connor sells just as well after a GSP loss to Whittaker as it does before. If GSP drops to 170, he's never coming back up and Dana is going to use this opportunity to pull a million+ PPV event out of this division before letting GSP and Connor get their payday on.

Also allows Dana to get his Connor-Ferguson million+ PPV buy event. The name of the game now is superfights, and building as many of them as they can. Connor-GSP is a no brainer for the UFC, but they have 3 more fights (assuming GSP retires after his 4 fight contract is up...which is a good assumption) to work that into. Why not try to build a star or two off of GSP's back before that?
 
There still needs to be a GSP - Silva fight at some point. They need to capitalize on all the superfights.
