I agree with most of this... but I gotta say. "Snarlsson" has to be the gayest nickname I've ever heard. I cringe when I see it.
 
If we're still interested in P.K. by next January, we could offer him a 5-year extension:

1 RFA year at $7.0M (or arbitrator amount for 2014-15, if higher) and 4 UFA years at $9M each for a cap of $8.6M
Let's forget about an 8-year contract. You probably wouldn't want to pay P.K.at that level when he's over 30.
 
I get the feeling the arbitrator will side on the Habs side, since it seems the NHL lawyers did a full court press on Subban - I would think Subban will only dig his heals in more after this fiasco.
 
he should of signed a 5 year deal yesterday worst case , then you got a 5 year window to figure it out, 8.5 would of locked him up then he can test UFA at 30, by that time if we havent won anything at least you can say he had him for 10 years .

Absolutely. Without a doubt. The entire "I really, really,really love the team" approach is a pressure tactic to excite the fanboys and pressure management. Corson used it too and so did Komi.

I am and will always be a fanboy.....of the Hab's. I was a fan before PK's father was born and I will be a fan long after PK is gone form the league. If PK is a Hab, I'm one of his biggest fans, but if PK is not with the Hab's, he can drop dead for all I care. A lot of much greater players then PK's ego imagines him to be have come and gone from the Hab's.....and the Hab's are still here.
 
Like i said yesterday. I think MB offered him a good offer but PK and his agent kept turning it down. I mean really, we paid Eller a great contract. He does not want to play here or he thinks he is better than the team. I hope the arbitration sides with the Habs. Why pay someone 8 mil or so that does not want to be here. We could get a great trade for this guy. Yea we would lose a lot on defense but we would survive.
 
PK has been a huge booster of Montreal from day one. You guys are nuts if you don't think he wants to be here.

I just really could not comprehend the idea that MB would be stupid enough to let this happen. I suppose it's possible that PK was asking for $10+ million... and if that's the case I'll cut MB some slack. I just doubt PK was asking that much. The best that I came up with is the MB offered 8x8.....and was shocked that Subban didn't budge. That's coming from "senior management" but outside the Hab's. Regardless, MB is a effen vault on information.

He said that around the league, they know Newport is trying to set a precedent and Subban is not a innocent victim. The upside he said is that MB is also known to stick to his guns and he wont destroy the team ability to sign players just to satisfy Newport or Subban.

My take....if it's 8x8 or even 8.5x5 and Subban, Newport and his mommy wants "record setting", then f@ck him. Trade him yesterday.
