The truth is that it’s some of both. If a coach can’t get the players to play correctly it’s on him. If players are too dumb, nervous, unable then it’s on them.

They’re playing rather correctly. They made it to the final 4, lost 2 games, both in OT to a superior roster

But Marty said in the presser that the coaches aren't telling the players to play like that.....meaning the players are not executing assignments...maybe because they are physically and mentality tired....maybe

I still think we come out flying and win the next 3 games
 
All this talk about making adjustments, the adjustment they need comes from within the players.. tinkering with the 4th line is not going to change the endless icings etc.. these guys are young, they need to dig deep.. man up.

With all due respect, they’re not. They’re playing on a wing and a prayer. Constantly hemmed in their zone, grossly outshot nightly, relying on luck.

This is not a repeatable format for perennial contender status. Relying on your goalie to constantly bail you out is not a system worth embracing.

Sure you point to the results this season. It’s found money, not earned money.

They are exceeding expectation and no one realistically considered them a perennial contender heading into these playoffs.

Hmmm…on the Leafs board you said being grossly outshot wasn’t that indicative.

Regardless, I’m sure MSL is not preaching “keep icing the puck boys, Dobes will bail us out and then we’ll score a lucky one in OT”
 
Regardless of what MSL did or did not do, I agree it’s also up to the players to sack up.

Carolina’s two first period goals were on poor play by wingers.

Kinda... But if the team strategy doesn't appear to change when we're only getting 12 shots a game... At some point he's to be blamed.
