Correct. Any long term offer sheet will be matched by Winnipeg and he will be stuck there. If the jets can’t find satisfaction in a trade with us, their best bet is to sign a 1 or 2 year deal with Dubois and trade him at the deadline for a team desperate for a big top 6 center. In 2 years, he can sign with the habs (we will have a lot of salary going out within 2 years so we could have room).

For sure... that would be amazing. Bedard or Fantilli would be a great addition to that list.

I'm not sure that turning down an opportunity for a big, young, talented center now in hopes of winning a lottery is a great plan. When you've been struggling to land good/great centers for decades... you take the bird in hand.

Having too many is a problem that I can handle.
