Rumours, Innuendos and Flat out B.S.: 2013 - 2014 NHL Season

Diaz is a pretty good defenseman. I dont know what people are watching. He is not someone who should be the 3rd PP option (maybe 4th) but in no way is he worse than MDZ as an overall player. MDZ is brutal...

Just because Diaz doesn't hit like Emelin it doesn't mean he is inept.

This. Diaz is reliable, he barely ever makes mistakes, he's still our most efficient PKer, makes good passes, can play on the PP a little bit (he really needs to improve his shot) but he's a guy that you can throw in just about any situations. He just doesn't do anything especially well. I'm not convinced either that MDZ is superior to Diaz except offensively.

I really wish people would start watching Diaz. There is this rumor out there that he is a "good passer". The guy never makes what I would call a "good pass". He always makes the safe play. He goes hard boards or high glass, that is not a skilled or offensive d-man type play. He never makes that slick outlet like Markov or Subban that sets his team up for a decent rush, he creates work for his forwards. That is something I expect from Murray, but not Diaz.

He is not physical, his shot never hits the net. The guy averages the 4th most TOI and has ZERO goals after 36 games! He is 27 years old, he is what he is, an over-rated, very watered down Mark Streit. But hey, he is always in position... to pull the puck out of the net.

Same reason people do not like pleks.

Think you have to be a big hitter to be a good NHLer.

It is weird.

Diaz has been on the ice for 21 goals against.

Markov (31) Subban (30).

Gorges (25).

Though obviously Markov and Subban play more mins. But I actually find Subban's a bit concerning because he rarely plays the PK.

Gorges and Diaz play close to the same mins but Diaz does get more PP time. So I will conclude that Diaz and Gorges are about the same at being "in position... to pull the puck out of the net. "

Not a big fan of guys who don't do even one single thing especially well.

What a bunch of BS. Most people here like Pleks, and eveny many of those who like him, like me, would be willing to trade him in the right deal.

Never said most people didnt like pleks.

Must be your sense of guilt that thought that was somehow an attack on you. :p

Funny, I wish the same thing from people who don't like him, as you prove with your second statement as he's the defenseman that has the least amount of goals scored against per minutes played on our team, despite playing top minutes on the PK and against the other teams top lines (when he was paired with Gorges).

I'm with you... I see very little upside in Diaz.

Gorges gets scored on every 29 minutes he plays, Diaz every 33 minutes.

TSN were having fun this morning making up trade proposals for Evander Kane:

NB+Tinordi+Fucale+pick for Kane

NB+Tinordi+Bournival for Kane

And I don't mean just in hockey. Gotta shine in at least one area, in any line of work.

Sadly I'm one of those guys, I'm pretty good at a lot of things but I don't shine at anything. It's just not in me. I prefer knowing a lot of things rather than knowing one thing very well.

I say no to any deal that starts with NB + Tinordi. I'm fine with trading one of them but not both of them.

That is just it.... He is an offensive D-man, shouldn't we be talking about his offensive skill? Nope we want to give him credit for not getting scored on by teams 2nd and 3rd lines and ignore that he can't produce against that same competition.

PS> Of his 10A I wonder how many are from rebounds off the glass and backboards off his terribly aimed point shots? :lol
