Summer 2026 Transfer Thread

Final thought for the day: I'll be really surprised if Liverpool gets the Bradley Barcola deal over the line. That price tag is steep, and whenever they balk at a deal like this, there's always a Chelsea to swoop in and grab the player for the price the selling team is asking. Ultimately how we missed out on Moises Caicedo (yeah, I know they eventually "agreed" to a price but then Chelsea swooped in with a slightly richer offer, and he's in London).

And Chelsea looks to add veteran leadership (while fulfilling their homegrown quota) by signing Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson.
Jordan, you're making it really difficult to wish you well, going to Chelsea. Ugh.

Is that really worse than him going to Saudi Arabia?

Saudi Arabia disappointed me greatly but I didn't see him play there so the disappointment was largely invisible. It didn't hurt much when he was with Brentford and so I wished him well all last season. But I don't like Chelsea, so to see him pulling on the Chelsea kit against us twice a season will be disappointing. Will be interesting to see the reaction he gets from Anfield when he appears there this year. Last season he got, in essence, a lap of honor after the Brentford game.

Even as someone who has no real positive feelings toward Newcastle, watching them get absolutely stripped for parts really sucks. Villa has been shaken down, but not anywhere close to the extent that Newcastle has. Newcastle has plenty of support and obviously the potential for backing from their ownership and it doesn't matter, cause the glass ceiling has been firmly implemented. The sport has always been a bit top down, but it feels so unfairly so at this point that they've created permanent caste systems. The message is clear, if you aren't in the big six already, you are a feeder team. Rogers gave up Champions league play to join a mid table team.

Bournemouth move for Benfica defender Antonio Silva. 22 years old with over 200 first-team appearances for Benfica.

And one more: Fulham are apparently about to add two Madrid squad players, striker Gonzalo Garcia and MF Cesar Palacios, for a combined €50m. New head coach Alvaro Arbeloa had both in the youth setup for Madrid.

And Christian Norgaard is apparently leaving Arsenal after one season to join Everton. Looks ever more likely that the Bruno Guimaraes rumours are true

In a typical Arsenal move, they‘re taking a £3 million loss on the sale, paying £10 million last year, selling for £7 million.

Gio Reyna joins Ligue 1 side Strasbourg for €3 million from Borussia Monchengladbach. They finished 8th in the league last season, missing the Conference League by 1 point.
