Team Canada/2023 World Juniors

Maybe Team Canada could have communicated better the expectations? By his account of his experience, sounds like he never had a chance to make the team. Why even invite him?

Players are going to get cut , suck it up douchebag

Be happy you got invited

That's more than fair. But his arguments are he wasn't give a fair shot because he's French, which is always adorable to hear and isn't even worth addressing, and that he didn't get an opportunity on the PP or the top 2 lines.

Okay, who are you taking off those top 2 lines for him? If you go down the line, who do you take off the third line for him? Maybe Dean? And he's a top-6 player, not a bottom-6 player and based on what this coaching staff wants, they want a clear grinding line. I don't agree with it, but that's their philosophy.

The vast majority of the time, Team Canada's roster is like an NHL roster: The rosters are more or less already set with the exception of the odd spot here & there.

So why invite people in the first place? Well, simple: Injuries happen, and networking for your career. You never know who from this coaching staff might be in the NHL 5 years down the road and will say, I liked that Bolduc kid. Worked hard, good attitude, I think we should get him.

The NHL always has been an old boys club filled with people who want their guy. Bolduc just unnecessarily harmed his career prospects.

There's so many disappointments in professional sports, many teams don't want to deal with guys like that, truth is irrelevant.

Sure but team owners and presidents are listening. He would be smarter to stfu until established.
I doubt the Blues care much.
Doubt all you want. All he did was put a target on his back by saying it was because he's French. That is a character issue, they'll notice.

Bingo, bingo, bingo.

The Blues will 100% care about this. 100%, guaranteed, I would bet my next paycheck on it. And not just them, btw. If Bolduc makes it in the NHL and is a good player, this will pass, just like Drouin's whining in Tampa Bay about being sent to the AHL passed.

For one simple reason: Will he cry racism and lack of opportunity if he doesn't make the NHL next year? How about in his second year if he doesn't make the team? Will he bitch and moan if things don't go how he wants them? And if the English media picks this up, and they haven't yet, this will make the rounds across North America and there will be one of those empty "we need to have a real dialogue about French bias" for like 2 days before moving on to the next outrage du jour.

Whether fair or not, Bolduc will be labeled a whiner and his character will be questioned.

He just put a hurdle in front of himself for no reason. No reason whatsoever.

There are players like Bolduc that get cut from Team Canada every year. His statement that being French is held against him is so insulting for Stéphane Julien as well.

I don’t agree with him saying it but I understand how he can be frustrated. And let’s be honest, hockey is a country club at all level, it’s all about who you know and who knows you. Do you think it’s a coincidence that 2 out of 3 Q guy are playing for Stephane Julien the assistant coach? I’ve been on plenty of camp where I knew I was cut even before the beginning of the camp, even though I was better than many who were making the team, but my dad wasn’t involved in hockey so I wasn’t part of the country club. It’s bullshit and frustrating.
Just keep working hard.
